Buy an underground fence system. They also have ones that are wireless now. They come with a shock collar and whenever they near the boundary they get shocked. You do have to do some training with your dog (you should get instructions with the system), but they are supposed to be really effective.
Good luck! I know how stressful it is to have your dog run away!

I just recently was given a 4-year old dachshund who is a perpetual fugitive, and the way to deal with him was to slowly follow him (running only makes him think it's a game) and stop once in awhile like something interesting is on the ground. Calling his name in a tone like "Look at this!" gets his attention, and eventually he moved close enough to nab. If your snauzer is running away in the same direction, at the same speed, each time, then it might be a good idea to find out what the attraction is-- a female in heat? trash and garbage? kids or other dog playing? Carrying small chunks of cheese in your hand to show him and give him when he takes the bait is also good for catching a dog but it shouldn't be every time or he'll run off to get the treat. I only show the cheese to my doxie when it looks like he's heading into traffic. Hope this helps--I know how frustrating it can be.

First, get him fixed if he isn't already. There are many low-cost places (just google "low-cost spay neuter). He could be running away because he smells a female in heat, which is how they make puppies. And there are too many puppies in the world.

carry him with you every where you go, and spoil the snots out of him. He will be so pleased to be with you that he'll never leave you again.
