The most significant event in her life was getting to know Alfred Steiglitz and eventually marrying him. As a woman artist in the early part of the twentieth century she would not be readily accepted by the dominant men but Stiglitz recognized talent when he saw it and help to promote the young woman artist. Without Stiglitz's influence we may not even have heard of her today!
