I was in your position 2 years ago. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out one day when I was 16 years old. I'll share you my story.

First of all they put me to sleep, and then they gave me shots in the back of my gums to numb my mouth. I remembered the first 15 minutes of my surgery and the rest I don't even remember because I went to sleep. My surgery took about an hour, and I woke up very groggy. They put these cotton pads in the back of my mouth to help with the bleeding. They prescribed me 2 pills. One pill was for pain, and the other pill was for nausea because the pain pills side effects was nausea. Later on that night I vomited once. The doctors told me that the gas they used to put me too sleep would make me vomit. My mouth stayed numb for about 7 hours, so I didn't have any pain until later that night. Also, take your prescription pain medication when you are supposed too, so that you won't have serious pain.

For 5 days I didn't eat any solid food. All I ate was yogurt. About a week after my surgery I went back to the surgeon to have my stitches taken out. When they took the stitches out it didn't hurt at all. For the first few days after my surgery all I did was stay in bed because I didn't feel like doing anything else.

I hope that your surgery and recovery goes well.

Ok so i got my wisdom teeth removed when just last year when i was 15. I had all 4 teeth removed and i went under anesthetic(most of the time you have a choice between Novocaine and going under). When I came to i felt no pain but there was a lot of drooling. About 2 hours later my debt was due and the pain started. As soon as this happened i took some more pain relievers although the time between not being doped up was hell. The swelling only lasted for about 4 days but it is different in every person. The thing that was weirdest to me was the way my gums felt when i rubbed my tongue over them. But you have to be careful about removing your blood clots(you will learn all about that in the docs office). Good luck!

Aww... lol. I had my bottom wisdom teeth removed when I was sixteen. It was not a big deal at all. They numb you with ambesol so you don't feel the needle that numbs you from the actual pulling out of your tooth. Then they put this breathing mask over your nose that makes you sleepy and quit comfortable in my opinion. I know I was all giggly afterwards. You'll feel them working in your mouth but it's not painful its more of a I know what you're doing kind of thing. It took about 20 minutes for both teeth. I had to bite down on cotton for a day or two and take pain killers but overall It wasn't a bad experience. So don't be scared :0)

It all depends if your wisdom teeth are impacted or not. If they have to do surgery you will be swollen for a few days and be in pain. If it's just a simple extraction it will be much easier and you may not have much swelling. But the younger the patient, the faster they heal. Most people have them taken care of at 19 or 20 years of age, not at 14. But I think you will be just fine. Make sure you don't smoke or drink alcohol after wards (you shouldn't do this anyways). And don't drink any sodas or any drinks with a fizz in it. And don't drink true a straw. I'm sure your dentist will give you all the instructions. Don't worry too much. We all survived it. You will, too, sweety.

Wisdom teeth can be removed under general anesthsia
by a dental surgeon after proper consultations to the effect; recovery is less than 5 days with virtually no pain aftrewards.

I was 16 when I had mine removed. The recovery is a little painful - and you can't make any suction with your mouth without pain for the first day or so, which makes drinking difficult.

The worst part for me was the pain meds they gave me. I took them and they made me vomit - so I was miserable. I would have rather not taken anything - or taken something to curb nausea along with the pain meds.

That being said - it was not that bad, and you heal pretty fast. I had no swelling or bruising.

Best of luck!

You could have almost no pain or 2 weeks of a lot of pain. So the pain factor varies. You probably will get mild pain releave pills unless the pain is unbearable. You will probably half to eat soft foods for at least 3 days. Most people almost fully recover within 1 week.

I was petrified! I hate dentists and if I wasn’t in so much pain, I’d never have gone. I had my 2 top wisdom teeth removed. It took all of 15 minutes, I felt nothing. And he gave me some great drugs (codeine!) I walked out of there MUCH happier. I wouldn’t worry, I am sure your parents are sending you to a great Doc.

Why are you getting them removed? I wouldn't get them removed unless they are infected or damaged beyond repair. Then, you have to get partials to keep the others from shifting into the empty spaces making all your other teeth crooked. If nothing is wrong with them, then let them stay put.

i didnt think it was that bad when i had it done. i was kinda swollen for three or four days, and it hurt a bit. they prescribed percocet but i only used it for the first day. after that just advil. everything was fine within a week. people make it sould like the procedure is really horrible, but i think they are just crybabies.
