Every one of the messages to the seven churches ends with the exhortation of overcoming. A Christian who is hot is one who is actively engaged in overcoming his sins and pursuing righteousness. Those who claim to be Christian but ignore their sins or believe they don't have any, or believe "once saved, always saved," they are satisfied with how they are, are cold. Those who know the truth and maybe that they have sins, but do little or nothing to overcome them, a lakadasical practice of true Christianity, without spiritual growth, are lukewarm.
Peter describes a growing (hot) Christian:
2 Peter 1:5-11 -- But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

warm are the Christians that are on hearth for God. Lukewarm are those that have become so like the international which you will no longer tell the version between them and the international. chilly are the single's who's hearts are no longer for the Lord in any respect. warm would be those that pass to Heaven. The Lukewarm, God has mentioned he will spit out of His mouth and could be extra harshly judged because of the fact they knew and ignored the mark. The chilly don't understand Him and is not any longer interior the e book of existence.

Not only Christians, that refers to anyone in anything they do. Either your fully committed(hot) or you decided your not going to be involved(cold). The lukewarm people are saying things like, maybe, I'll try, I hope it works, lets see what happens. When you live on a luke warm basis things never turn out as hoped for. That's what the verses mean.

Ok... so basically, last month, i was radically transformed. i had been a christian all my life, but i'm not sure if i actually was or not. i love god so much now though.
one who is cold, is probably one that doesn't know god at all. one who is lukewarm is probably one who claims to know god but trashes god with the way they live (1 John says: 1 John 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.) and one who is hot... oh baby... a hot christian is the only christian there is, as 1 John 3:6 basically states. This obviously does not mean we will not sin at ALL, but we will improve every day, and come closer to god (sanctification). if you have ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK ME!
Also, Jeremiah is a book from the perspective of a prophet who is warning Israel and Judah of the future punishment of god for trashing his name, and it says:
Jeremiah 3:9-11
9 Because Israel's immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood. 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense," declares the LORD.
11 The LORD said to me, "Faithless Israel is more righteous than unfaithful Judah.
basically meaning that a fake dedication back to god is worse than no dedication at all, which is why god says, Revelation 3:15, New International Version: I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
to go off on a tangent, claiming to be a christian, but messing around in the dirt that everyone else plays in DISGRACES GOD'S NAME. it does not help it. so yeah.

It should not be translated in its literal meaning.
hot or cold means the rich man who has everything in life that he do not need anything more from others but he do not know that he is poor, blind and no clothings. He should be wise and repent If that man could hear the advises of Jesus, He will be with Jesus and dine with him. Those who have faith will be brought to heaven with God in his throne. so that he should listen. That is also what it means on the lukewarm because for the lukewarn, he has faith but in doubt of God.

God is saying that He wishes that you were either all the way with Him and His teachings(hot) or you were doing what you want to do and not caring about Him, His teachings and ultimately, just living the way you want to live and doing what you want to do not giving in account to what God stands for(cold). He is saying that you are either with Him or you are against Him. There is no in between(lukewarm). Like doing what you want to do until you get ready to acknowledge Him. May God Bless U.

Hot are the ones that are on fire for God
Cold are those that knew God and turned their back on Him
Lukewarm are the ones that say they know Him but still live like the rest of the world and haven't been transformed by Him. They are the ones to that will say Lord, Lord, we did this in Your name, and He will say depart from me I never knew you.

The weather.
Ok, so is this saying that it's best to know and be true to what you believe, that believers and non believers are both fine, "he" just isn't big on those that can't commit either way? So atheists are fine..
