Jesus was an ordinary looking man, and nothing that would make him attrative, as it says in the bible. It also states that he had hair of wool.

I also believe that as a carpenter, in the time that he lived, he would have been a bigger built man, but possibly not very tall and not so overly musculer as this would have made him stand out. I believe that he would have had darker skin tone. A beard is possible,as it would follow the traditions of the time, but I do not believe it would have been so long and unruley as it appears in many drawings of him.

I believe he would have been a short to medium statured, darker skinned man, with strong but not overly noticed features and he would ahve had medium to short curly to semi curly hair with a kept beard. Basically, as the bible says, an average man for his time and place.

Really hate the effeminate dirty hippy look.

Fact: before his ministry which started at age 30 he was a carpenter. Go check out a few job sites in your town and see how many effeminate carpentars you see.

According to scripture he was so ordinary looking (believe it or not they really did know how to cut hair back then) that he could mix amoung a crowd and not be noticed.

According to Isaiah 53 he was not comely that any should desire him. In otherwords a just a plain old ordinary looking guy. The carpenter next door.

But what really drives me bonkers is when the potray him as completely insane.

The Gospel of John, which I didn't watch till recently because I mostly despise biblical movies because they are so inaccurate, portrayed him as a effeminat dirty hippy raving lunatic. I will listen to revewers from now on. I will. I will. I will not listen to my christian brothers who think the latest bible movie they've seen is the best one they ever have seen.

Speaking of which Messiah, Prophecy Fullfiled is really very good and that from the bible movie industries worst critic.

PS the "normal" pictures you see of Jesus look exactly like the Jewish peoples arch enemy Antiocus as his picture was minted on coins.

How Jesus is portrayed in movies - I believe that they usually always have Jesus as a western looking man with blue eyes to make him stand out better among the other actors.

I think that this is a total contradiction to the place and times. In those times the romans ruled so I think Jesus would of had shorter hair(not even close to his shoulders, and his beard would of been closely clipped(still following jewish law and fitting in with the romans). His eyes would of been brown or obsidian. His skin would of been several shades darker than what he is portrayed.

The Bible says He was not comely. In other words He was not that attractive to the eyes. That is so all the people would be attracted to His beautiful character and not His outside beauty. There was only one group of people that had long hair that I recall. He probably had short hair and dark skin. Also the Bible says, "Does not nature itself teach you it is a shame for a man to have long hair". Also if it was the custom for men to have long hair then Samson would not have been specifically told to grow his long. The picture we all see and identify as Jesus is a painters concept of Him. Mmm

What should it matter what Jesus looked like? The important thing is that he took our sins and washed us clean! Praise the Lord! We must be thankful for the atonement made at the cross! It freed us from condemnation and reconciled us to the Father! How he has been portrayed is probably not accurate anyway.
The Bible book of Isaiah 53:2, says of the Savior, "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him".

Our image of Jesus is as a tall, blonde, blue eyed man, slender and the image came first out of Byzantine art, then early Medieval art, and finally, the Renaissance. In reality he was a swarthy middle eastern man, likely dark hair, likely short, as were most people then --- (children who do not get enough nutrition as children never reach their potential height.)

Nobody now has pictured the true looks of Jesus. The images appearing from the catholics are just images which came from the mind of the carpenter who made it.. That is not true picture of Jesus Christ.

I think that they are wrong..I think He looks more like someone from the Israel and not like an American. However there is a man in my church that when he grew his hair long, he looked like all the normal pictures you see of Jesus.

Greek icons seem close - middle eastern male, dark skin, brown hair pulled back into a loose pony-tail, brown eyes, beard separated into two points.

I don't think he looked like that. He was previously a Carpenter so he was probable strong and muscular. The Bible says he was tall above man.I don't know if that means tall as we know it or not.I think he was a good looking man and looked in very good health. Most of the pictures i see makes him look sickly.Great Question. Thanks for asking it.
