I live in a good neighborhood but yet my house has been vandalized more times then I can count. Everything from toilet papering to written messages on the driveway. Egging numerous times and etc. It is so annoying ( I'm practically paranoid now) and I have no idea who is doing this! It has to be the same people right? It happened last night again, someone scribbled mustard all over the porch)! We told the police but since there is no proof to who did it, they can't do anything. Also, no significant damage to property has been done. But, still this can't go on forever! I have to do something. Any ideas for catching the culprit????!!! Thanks!

What were the messages on your driveway?. This is an obvious clue, and reason as to why you're being targeted. Since this has happened several times, a crime pattern should have been formed, and the Police should be able to be in the area during the occurring times. Request a special attention on your home. Either yourself, or a friend could try sitting up all night with a video camera. If they're dumb enough to keep coming back, they're dumb enough to get caught.

Well, there are many different methods. My father in law slept out in the driveway with a shot gun. I don't suggest this, lol. Finally him and his wife got one of those monitor cameras. The best thing to do is make sure everything around your house is always well lit as far as the outside goes. Get a light that turns on when someone is in your front yard. I would hook up a video camera secretly somewhere and try to catch them that way. Also there are fake cameras you can hook up outside your house and people think they are real so it becomes less likely they will mess with you. My dad has one of those above his door.

You need to get a camera.

Sounds like somebody is holding a grudge against you. You would be surprised how many people get bitter and act stupid over something you don't even remember. I was vandalized 4 times and it turned out to be a guy I used to pay to do my lawn and I fired him. He had smashed out the windows on my van and everything. I didn't think firing the gardener could get so extreme.

Maybe you scolded the paper boy 3 months ago for tossing the paper on your roof. Whatever it is, it is probably something so stupid you wouldn't believe the person would be so bitter about it. And its probably someone you were nice to, tried to help out, and paid money to or had some kind of interaction with in the past.

People are strange. I would try to capture them on camera some way. I know that might be an expensive option, but you don't want it to escalate into arson or something more dangerous to you and your family. Get some security cameras or mount some kind of webcam or something.

We have had our house vandalized several times as well (paintball, eggs, etc...). First...do not take it personally. It is probably bored high school kids. Dribbling mustard on someones porch.....come on now, how pathetic is that? Second...reporting it to the police is probably all you can do unless you want to install some crazy expensive surveillance system...just to catch some dumbass punks with nothing better to do than walk around with a bottle of mustard.

I would definitely try to invest in some sort of security camera(s), alarm or even motion detecting lights. It may seem like a big investment, but it may help with your peace of mind and it will help protect your property as well as be a big help in gathering evidence against whomever it is that is doing the vandalizing.

A large indoor dog that barks at outside noises, an outdoor camera that can record in the dark, and, the one that worked for us, install lots of outdoor motion detector lights. Any movement in your yard and they come on fast and bright. Any vandals will run.

Pay some youngsters $20 to sit down available and stake out with some baseball bats and BB guns or paintball guns. that is more cost-effective than mini cams and the crooks gained't smash out. next time they do it allow the youngsters workout consultation a number of that pent up aggression all of them have, plus even as the police officials ensue you'll have the suspects for them already keep them some artwork to.

I would say get a video camera, and some lights on motion sensors. If someone enters the yard than the lights, and camera will go on. Problem solved.

ok, only one of those answers made ANY sense! I'd say, get a CHEAP security camera and set it up at the best spot, link it to your vcr or dvd recorder and record ALL night EVERY night untill you catch the little morons. Or, do what I did, sit on top of the roof with a shotgun.
