The purpose of this type of diet is to cleanse the system. It is VERY effective because fruit contains large amounts of fibre and nutrients but, unlike virtually every other type of food, requires very little effort to digest. You therefore get a lot of nutrient goodness and fibre to pass waste through your body, whilst allowing your system to rest/recuperate/heal itself, instead of working hard to digest food.
You can expect to lose a lot of weight on this diet, a large proportion of it will be water that the excesses of modern day processed carbs and salt normally makes your body hold on to.
More importantly, your body will began the act of detoxifying itself, ridding itself of all the rubbish that has just sat around in it for so long because your digestive system has had to work so hard breaking down all the modern day cr*p you put inside it that it has not been able to do anything other than 'keep afloat'. By giving it the break from all the rubbish you would normally ingest it will give it the time and literal energy to start breaking down all the toxins inside.
People stop on this diet for a lifetime (fruitarians~google it), I would suggest, assuming you are fit and healthy, a minimum of two weeks, but see how you feel.
The first 3 or 4 days will be VERY difficult. Your body will crave the junk it is used to eating and you will have to be very strong. After that time the cravings/urges will magically disappear as the body begins the serious work of detoxification and you will start to feel incredible.
Be warned of one thing though: Toxins coming out of your body could well give you spots, make your hair greasy and coat your tongue. This is GOOD, your body will have begun the process of extreme elimination and it really will be a case of 'better out than in'.
Once the toxins are cleaned out you wont believe how great you will feel (and look). Some people believe you should do this until your tongue is clean again as this signifies your body has removed all the junk out of the system at this point (the tongue is one part of the body that expels toxins very effectively). It could take months to 'clean you out' though,dependant on how your lifestyle was.

Go for protein as opposed to sugar to keep energy levels going strong rather than crashing. Edamame in pods would be the perfect snack since it takes some time to eat and a one-cup offering offers 12 grams of health proteins.

The whole concept of detox is an urban myth. It began in Edwardian times when the affluent Edwardians decided it was unfashionable and lower class to eat vegetables. As a result they developed severe constipation and had to use enemas to clear it.
A good Western diet with plenty of fibre empties the bowel within 24 hours, making the whole concept a facetious one. This has not of course had any effect on the lucrative detox industry, which makes millions each year from the gullible public.
In the few weeks I have been answering 'Health Answers' I have had my eyes really opened. I had no idea that such a high percentage of the population are so naive as to believe in the myths, potty patent medicines, illegal drugs, illegally purchased prescription only drugs, charlatans and just plain crooks, purporting or pretending that they can fix them.
It will have no effect on weight loss, which will only occur with a combination of diet and exercise. Last of all you are surely having a laugh if you believe it will make you glow!

i've done this a few times.
had fruit juices only for the first 3 days, and was allowed 1 egg a day for the next 3 days.
it cleaned up your system from toxic and chemicals.
i lost about 5 lbs and got rid of my regular morning sneezing.
it may not be good for people with gastric/stomach problem though.
