the easiest language to learn is the one your are taught at a very early age. which language is pretty much irrelevent. language is picked up very quickly because of the stage the brain is at and how it develops. if a language isn't learned period by about 9-10 years of age, it is virtually impossible for that person to pick up a language.

English isn't a hard language to learn. The popular myth is that it is, but that's completely false. Read any articles on learning English and you'll see that there are few popular languages that are less difficult.
The easiest language with a large number of speakers is supposedly Indonesian, but not very useful for someone living in North America.
For practical languages that among the easiest for English speakers go for any of the Romance languages aside from French which is more difficult. Once you've learned say Spanish, Italian or Portugese will be a snap to master, and you get a big bite out of French off the bat as well.
Go read a book like Barry Farber's How To Learn Any Language, great book. I can already see that much of the information you're getting on this post is nonsense. Do your own research if you're serious about picking up a second language.

Well guessing that you are a Native speaker of English I would guess that Dutch would be the easiest. Many of grammar rules and vocabulary are found within our language. The fact that they are both Germanic languages gives them close ties. Other languages which are quite easy to learn would be Norwegian/Danish/Swedish, all of which are very similar. Spanish isn't too hard either in my opinion.

As a native English speaker, you can follow these guidelines that a bunch of diplomats made up. It goes up with difficulty. I don't know how to find the legit listings, but this is how the levels go, with examples from each level:
Level 1: Spanish, Italian, French
Level 2: German
Level 3: Russian
Level 4: Japanese, Arabic
Level 5: Chinese
Hope that helps! I find German easiest personally, but I'm not these guys who made the list.
And I think English speakers who say English is hard to learn are just trying to make themselves feel better...English--no genders, enough said!
And as far as Spanish goes, I think the subjunctive is ridiculously difficult to master as an English speaker. Just saying.

Actually, knowing several people from different Countries,I understand that English is one of the HARDEST to learn. For English speakers, I think German is the easiest to learn as there are so many similar words though sentence structure is different.

For an English speaker: probably one of the Germanic languages, of which East Frisian is widely considered to be the most closely related to English.

Some have answered like me, but I truly believe that Spanish and Japanese are easier to learn because you pronounce the words the way they are spelled. Originally I speak Spanish. I learned English and it was hard. I am learning some Japanese and it is much easier than English. The symbols are hard, but when the words are written in the roman alphabet, you just read them like you would Spanish.

Japanese. Their language is very simple. Few words. Its just learning where to put the inflection while speaking. The english language is the hardest to learn, for we on the other hand have a word for everything, and lets not forget the past, present, and future, nouns, verbs, and so on & on &on.
