It depends how firmly he believes in the republican way, if they're casual about it, go for it. If not, I would say stay away from it. It sounds like you firmly believe in what you believe in, so how can you be happy dating someone who represents what you are against.

What a great question! Recently, my best friend, who is a Democrat, married an ultra-conservative Republican. They have an extremely happy marriage (albeit with lots of fiery discussions) but they agree not to try to convert the other to their way of thinking.

if u are going to have disputes with him then maybe its not ur best idea. but then again it may be interesting. and then there is that corny thing "he completes me" saying or belief or w/e
