Okay when Sarai gave Abraham the instruction to take Hagar and bear a child with her, he did (Ishmael). Then Sarai dealt harshly with Hagar and she runs off then the an angel appears to her and instructs her to go back, tells her she is pregnant and also tells her that her unborn child (Ishmael) would be wild and a uneasy man:

Genesis 16:12
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

I guess that meant he would be restless, warring or whatever.
Then after Sarai has Isaac, she banishes hagar and Ishmael.
But God took care of them and said he would make a GREAT nation out of Ishmael

Genesis 21-18
Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

I take is that this nation is the Islamic nation.

If God made a great nation out of him, wouldn't this also be a religion of GODS since God Planned it to be that way?

it is all confusing

No, When ever nations form in the earth, no matter how great they are in stature or religion. God does a sifting process among the nations. What do I mean? If a nation rises up it is not based on the teachings of Christ. God will send His Word into that nation to draw those people to Him. There was a story in the book of Jonah about the Ninevites who were a great nation, but they did not worship God. Of course, God sent Jonah to preach His Word to this nation and they repented and came into fellowship with God. It is the same with the descendants of Ishmael.

And I will make of him ten great nations.
It is taken that these are the Arab nations.
Verse twelve does seem to reflect those nations, doesn't it.
