Situation:
Girl goes on date with this gorgeous guy she just met. They are having dinner in a nice, perfect, romantic restaurant. Things are going fine, until he starts getting into "spiritual" things, and how we're all supposed to find a soul mate, and he's getting positive vibes, and karma, and who knows what else, and is completely serious about it. Anyway, it scared me off, did I overreact?

Yes I have been overwhelmed. I went out with this girl and she was beautiful and sweet and nice. Until she starting putting the word 'God' in all her sentences. Then she asked me to go to church with her. And I'm not even christian. She constantly speaks about her religion and how important it is. I sometimes think if she's going out with me just to christianize me.

Overwhelmed by grief, no? I have no problems with spirituality, I do not feel the supernatural is a pre-requisite for spirituality. How do I manage without Christ? Easy, I look at the world around me and connect and empathize with it directly, NO MIDDLE MAN REQUIRED. Flesh and blood is not all that exist, we don't deny the existence of information, consciousness and human emotion, and possibly other things. A supreme being meant to protect us is doing a dismal job at it, I can't use the sheer weight of the expected reward as a pretext for just passively accepting all in this world that goes against me. If you want to, go right ahead. Some of your Christian buddies are far from having inner peace, just like some of my fellow atheists, what makes the atheist position inferior in this regard?

This is what you should do, go talk to the guy, again. Ask him what is his Spiritual Beliefs. If he is a Jehovah's Witness, which that description doesn't really feel like he would be, tell him about your own religion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that doesn't help, follow this link::

naw, that's pretty deep for a first date, and even though I sort of agree with some of that stuff, it'd still be a bit much for me too.
