Vista Home Premium will of course be a better option, but it will be more resource demanding as well.

If you want all the features that windows vista is designed for then go with Mircrosoft Vista Home Premium. The other version available to home users is the Basic Version of Vista which does not suppor the aero features. It doest give you the apple look to windows. Also, if you are looking to upgrade to MIcrosoft Vista Premium, minimum RAM requirement is 1GB. It's best to have 2GB or more if you can.

HAVING! What were you smoking/drinking 9 months ago? Anyways ya totaly if you like eye candy. Cause thats all thats really diff oh and media center stuff and the eye candy. You need at least an NVIDIA 6600 for the eye candy to work well (don't know 'bout ATI) And you should get at least 2 gigs of RAM (memory w/e) But ya Premium will be a lot nicer and "SLIGHTLY" faster, like 1/2 % for some reason do to the eye candy being run on the video card

unless there is a specific feature in a higher version of vista that you want(bit locker? dreamscene? 100+ TCPIP connection? 2 physical processor?) then home premium is good enough.

Vista Ultimate will not make your Vista go faster.
