my friend who is 125 pounds starved for 20 days had nothing but water and lost 30 pounds she is now 95 pounds and 5 foot 1 ...im 5'2 and 103 pounds why was she able to go that long and why can i barely last the second day?

by starving you only lose water weight and muscle and dramatically slow down your metabolism which will make fat loss in future even harder.
your friend will gain back more than she lost as soon as she starts eating.

If she lived on just water for 20 days she is now one very, very sick girl.
Really we can not last on water alone for more than 11 or 12 days.
I think she may have had something to eat during that time but is not telling you.
Otherwise she would have fainted a million times by now or be in the hospital with severe cardiac arithmias.
I have a disorder of the oesphagus and stomach and couldn't eat for over 7 weeks. In fact it's now been more than 6 years and I still can not eat like everyone else. But I had to go to hospital every 1.5 days for fluids because I was getting so sick from not eating.
I was hungry for the first 4 days and after that ketosis kicked in and I wasn't hungry anymore. BUT KETOSIS IS DEADLY DANGEROUS.
You are normal to get hungry after a day.

Don't worry, your friend will gain the weight back. Her body has thought that it was starving and so when she eats again her body will think she needs to save everything and will pack on the pounds more. You on the other hand, will be fine because you listened to your body and didn't starve it. Your metabolism will remain good and if you exercise a bit, you'll speed it up even more! Be glad your body wouldn't let you starve it! Smart, good body! She'll pay for the quick results that won't last.

When you go on starvation diets, what happens is that your body does what it can to retain bodyfat but then utilizes muscle and even bone for energy. So, when your friend does this, you can guarantee her bodyfat percentage has risen substantially, so when she starts eating again she'll gain back primarily bodyfat and will yoyo back to even higher weight.

This is one reason why starving yourself is so unhealthy. It also can cause many health problems, some of them permanent. Consider this, what's the difference between starving oneself and anorexia?

I cannot emphasize enough the stupidity of starving oneself, and I can't understand why one feels they must do this when there are healthy ways of losing bodyfat. Additionally, why do you feel that you're overweight in the first place? Most anyone would say you're pretty underweight.

Well, you aren't supposed to starve yourself like that. It's most definitely not healthy. I doubt she had nothing but water.

And not for nothing, but isn't it a little sick to starve yourself when there are people in this world who would give anything for the food you have available to you? Honor them by eating a good, healthy diet and accepting yourself.

I'm thinking her body is probably stronger than yours. That's a good question. When people get past the rights and wrongs of the action it self, I would love to know the answer.

her determination is quite out standing,i assure you she must have had some food in that time,but ate the right things and kept them to a minimal amount,as for you dieting is one of the hardest things we try to do,even the word itself. DIE with a t.dont give up you can do it.make your evening meal the smallest of the day.keep away from fats and sugars,eat 2 pieces of fruit per day,fruit contains fructose another word for sugar.if you buy tinned foods read labels for sugar and fat content.eat salad vegies,as much as you like,chicken without skin,grilled fish,skim milk,you can do the same as your friend only it will take a little longer,but you can do it,TRUST ME

Are you sure she had nothing but water? Maybe she isn't telling you everything? Maybe she binged then purged (bulimia). You two are on a destructive path....Please learn how to diet in a healthier way so you can be both skinny AND healthy!

Your friend has more will power than you. You should never starve yourself. You and friend need to get help.

Really is one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard. Just work out. Try jogging for Christ sake.
