I'm scared....?

Question

Ever since I saw that stupid episode on the History Channel I can't stop thinking about it! It said that the Mayans predicted that in 2012 December 21 the end of the world will come and it will be God's judgment day. Now I keep telling myself "This is NOT true, it's just going to be another day" because I know that ONLY GOD knows when the end will come. I know that NO ONE can know, not even Jesus knows. JUST GOD. But, what spooks me out is that the Mayans predicted lots of other events that came true! (ex. wars, and stuff). So how can I just STOP worrying about it?! I'm scared because I am only 14 years old and 2012 is only 6 YEARS away! I keep thinking "wow, I will never be able to experience life and neither will my sister" (who is only 6). And PLUS, I don't want to LIVE THROUGH the "end". I don't want this to happen in my lifetime. I don't want to see the whole entire Earth blow up in front of my eyes (you know what I mean). And I'm scared of pain. Death itself. I have so many drms

Please don't worry, sweetie. There have always been rumors of "omens" and "signs" about the end of the world. And it's always been proven to be nonsense. As you said, no one knows when the end will come but the Father. Not even Jesus knows. Do you think those Mayans were smarter than Jesus, the Son of the Most High God? Ha! If those Mayans were so smart, then why aren't they still around? So don't let that story scare you, OK? It's just a bunch of silliness. Besides, you have to be able to comfort your little sis if SHE gets scared, right?

Hi,

First, keep in mind that what you see on TV isn't necessarily the full story, even when it's a more "serious" channel like the History Channel. I recommend that you actually read about the Mayans and their alleged prophecies if you want to know the real story.

Second, what did the Mayans predict that gave you the impression that they had some sort of prophetic ability? You mentioned "wars," but mentioned nothing in particular. Many supposed prophets and psychics are very good at making predictions that seem specific, but are actually quite broad and open to multiple interpretations. Think about it - does it really take supernatural inspiration to predict that wars will occur?

I believe that if you reason this through, you'll realize that there's nothing to worry about.

i can tell why your scared, i would be too considering im 13 and my sister is also 6 years young...but if you really think about it, only GOD knows how the world will end and when it will....he could make the decision to end the world in the next second, hour, day or millions to billions of years from now.... you cant compare wars snd the end of the world...its just uncompareable...and when the end of the world does occur, you cant be afraid of it because GOD is smart and does everything for a reason...just live your life happily with no worries...when god decides, it must be for the best reason...hope i helped!!!

I saw the episode but it was some time ago and I really don't remember it very well! I DO know about the prediction however, just don't remember how they arrived at that conclusion. I am too busy enjoying what is left of my life to worry about it now. My philosphy is; If you live every day as though it were your last, when that last day finally comes, you'll have no regrets!!!

Relax. People have been saying "the end is near" since the beginning of time. 2012 will come and go like every other year and we will all still be here. There will always be doomsday theorists predicting the end of the world. They have never been right before. Don't lose sleep over it.

Cindy, it is hard at any age to consider your mortality. You should remember that the Bible says that no one will no the day of Jesus return. That includes the Mayans. You should also remember that if He does return that day, it will be to take you with Him thus preventing your death. Take comfort in the end because for Christians it is the beginning of heaven. Don't worry, I think you have alot of time for life. Just remember this feeling so that you don't waste your time. Enjoy school, your friends, and your family and live each day to the fullest. Just make sure that your life is right with God. Many people have predicted the end before and they were wrong. Please don't be afraid sweety. No one knows the day that the lord will come.He could come right now. Live a good and sin free life, do the best that you can, and don't worry about things.Jesus loves you. Okay?

Calm down.... Take a deep breath and hold it............. release

There are a lot of prophecies that haven't been fulfilled yet. Don't fret about this, the pain is something that frightens me too, but don't worry to much about this right now. The day will come, maybe a hundred years from now, maybe tommorow but, it is not for us to worry about, but make sure that we a prepared. And in the end when we hear Jesus claim that we are His all will be worth it.

It can be scary, but honestly if it is going to happen, then there's nothing you or I can do about it so just go on with your life and hope for the best. If its any consolation, lots of people have predicted the end of the world at various times and it hasn't happened yet...

Its just a prediction. People have been saying the worlds ending for millenia. Every single time the day passes, and life goes on the same as before so they make up a new date to scare themselves with.

Just ignore it. Don't let religious people scare you into becoming one of the sheeple. You'll only get eaten by wolves.
