Is Intelligence Sexy?

Question

I mean specifically if women find intellegence sexy in men.

I don't mean "books smarts straight A's in school" intellegence, I mean practical every day intellectualism.
Stuff like having a vast volcabulary that allows you to articulate your thoughts and convey your ideas profesionally, or being so good at mental math you can calculate any tax included price in your head in seconds and can show up your math teacher when he's asking for a "calculator" on a daily basis.

If you can't tell already, this question is about me.

I've always been able to impress people of both sexes with stuff like that, just never women in an infactuation sense.
It also really bugs me when I say something, have some ditz say "what does 'profound' or 'hinder' or 'delve' mean" and those same girls are amazed at other sfuff.

No, I'm not some bookworm high school nerd, I just need perspective because its been a long time since I've dated/ hade a girlfriend

I like an intelligent guy. But I feel your pain when it comes to having to define common words, it's obnoxious and a pain in the *** in general! I feel like I'm almost condescending them and that I have to dumb myself down to their level. So, don't settle is the point.

First it's a physical attraction for me. After that, the first 5 mintues they have to be able to say something more intelligent than, "you have nice teeth"

If intelligence is your strong point, use it. Go to places where you'll find intelligent woman (ie: probably not in a sleezy bar, try a book store).

I hope I've helped, but if I knew that answer but only in my terms, I'd probably be married by now :)

I think it is very attractive. It shows us that you are the type to pay attention to detail, learn, you have more goals than to work at a pizza place your whole life and so forth. I would stay away from the women who don't understand anything you are saying. They obviously don't have any schooling therefore, a great career is out of the question (unless they open a clothing line or something)! You seem to be very intelligent and you will someday attract the same type. Give it some time. Trust me..to those who have brains as well, hear a person like yourself and find ourselves almost immediately intrigued!

Yes, intelligence is sexy in men. Keep in mind, though, that arrogance generally isn't.

You may know what a lot of words mean, but your spelling definitely could use improvement. No one, however street-smart, is above using good grammar and spelling--that's a common courtesy to others. Frankly, you come across as somewhat egotistical and careless in your question. It could be those two characteristics that keep girls from being attracted to your nicer attributes.

Advice on perspective? Keep in mind that girls look for a lot more than smarts in guys. They also like characteristics like sensitivity, boldness, and a sense of humor. It's the little gestures that matter, that draw attention to you and make you seem worth a second look.

I think that it is very sexy, although I disagree with you when you say that "ditz say "what does profound, etc means. You should see people that does not posses a vast vocabulary, or anything for that matter, as you a ditz. The smartest people are the people that ask questions. The ditz are who pretend to know what you are talking about. I couldn't image why your intellect would "hinder" you from finding a good match for yourself. Maybe you should look elsewhere.

First of all, that stuff is not going to work on a girl who's a mathematician or physicist- they can see right through that =s=. A woman who's had higher mathematics needs a man who can do partial differential equations, and stuff like that.

Anyway, yes, I can honestly say that intelligence is very important to a woman. But, I can also honestly say that looks are most important. I'm just being honest. If you've got a nice face, and are not overwieght, you should be Mr. Hotstuff by my calculations.

I'm going to try and save you a lot of grief.
Don't try to figure women out.
Secondly, women are much more skilled at figuring men out.
You used the term 'impress' in your post.

Women know when we are trying to look good.
My advice is be yourself and don't worry about who is impressed.
In fact, I've found that 'less is more' works best with some girls. Meaning - let her wonder what you're thinking. Do more listening than yaking.

You are too cute. Actually intellect is very attractive but it will not get you anywhere if you do not have the confidence to back it up. Confidence is the sexiest attribute that anyone can have, male or female. I think a vast vocabulary can enhance a conversation but it isn't essential as long as you can convey your thoughts clearly.

I have to say, if a guy is articulate and is able to carry on an interesting conversation with me, I tend to be attracted to him. I would love to find a guy who possessed the intellect that you described in the details of your question. If a guy is unable to convey what he is feeling or thinking in an interesting manner, then he gets old really quickly in my mind. So, to answer your question, yes, intelligence is sexy.

I wouldn't say sexy, but it is a big plus and at times it can be cute :) I like when a guy can actually hold a conversation with out the same word coming up repeatedly.
