Here's a couple off the top of my head. One is that outdoor activity and pursuits is a major part of Australian life and culture due to varied and warm climate, but is not part of Britain's culture so much due to wet and cold climate. A cold, grey and damp landscape affects the psyche much differently than desert and waterfalls and tropical oceans.
Two: Britain does not have an aboriginal group native to any of the islands, which Australia does, and this lends a tribal element to Australian culture.
Three: The royal family is very important in Britain. So are pubs and spy movies/novels. Not so much in Australia.

The British and indeed Yoghurt has more culture than Australia. Australians love beating the English at Cricket because of a genetic predisposition for revenge on the nation that exported their ancestors. Time has left a big empty land full of "meat heads", as the few Australians that can talk call them..

some of the answers above have hit right onto a lot of points but i think there are lots of little differences that you don't notice until you've lived in both places. i moved to england from australia and there are so many things which annoy me and that i get confused about!

you'd think that language wouldn't be a problem being that itz just plain english but they have lots of strange slangs and sayings in england like pants meaning underwear as opposed to basic trousers like in australia! then they go and use "you alright?" as a greeting so you keep wondering if you look ill or something since ppl keep asking you that!

another thing is the food... the general types of food is similar but there is less diversity in england and they are overly obssessed with indian curry!!! pastries and stuff are also incomparable to aussie ones cos they have these silly, dry 'cornish pastie' things which are boring and tasteless compared to the great aussie meat pies!!!

another difference i encounter daily is that they are obssessed with their so called 'football' which is in fact soccer cos in oz, footy refers to aussie rules (AFL)!

oh well, sorry rant over... u can probably work out that i miss oz and wish that the brits will begin to realise that the world has moved on and that unified hot + cold water taps have been invented about 50 years ago and there is now no longer the need to choose between freezing your hands or burning them in other countries!

Would be little difference.Even in 1964 Australia's longest serving Prime minister(Menzies)said in 1964 he was british to his boot heels.Obviously the weather has had a profound effect on australian life. However the large influx of migrants since the late 60s has altered to a large extent the people here. Now I think we are more american than british.Still we see ourselves as aussies,no longer beholden to the queen and country. We can stand on our own,and proud of independance Although greatful to the Mother Country we're no longer tied to her apron dtrings

Aussies are (in general) more laid-back, friendly, casual and willing-to-lend-a-hand-as-well-as-friendship. The British can get a bit snobby, and more formal in speech and dress. However, you'll find good and bad in both areas of the world.
