I had a root canal about 2 weeks ago. I went for the checkup last week and my endodontist said that everything's fine.
I didn't eat anything with that side of my mouth up until tonight and now that I have I'm in pain.
Is this pain due to the swelling or is there something wrong?
If it is due to swelling how long would it take for it to go away?

Thanks in advance...

There was pain before the checkup but he said (after the root canal) I would have pain for about 2 days due to swelling.

SAMANTHA,
THIS NOT ABNORMAL. WHENEVER SUCH WORK WAS DONE ON A TOOTH, EVEN A SPECIALIST, THERE WILL BE SOME LINGERING SENSITIVITY FOR A TIME. THIS WILL IMPROVE WITH TIME.
IBUPROFEN WILL HELP BECAUSE IT'S ALSO ANTI-INFLAMATORY.

If you had the root canal done 2 weeks ago, you should not have any pain. Did you have pain before going for you checkup...or did you just have pain after eating on that side of your mouth?
I think that you should call your dentist, and have him look at it...there has to be something wrong. There should be no feeling in that tooth with the root canal at all.

This is normal. Many people feel that because the nerve was removed that there will be no more pain. This is wrong. Your tooth will have sensitivity for some time but will normally go away.
As a matter of fact, dentists will reduce the occlusal (or top of the tooth) so that there is very little contact between the root canal'd tooth and the opposing tooth it is contact with. Why is this done? Because you will likely have some sensitivity.
