Definitely now! There are deadlines for applying 2006-2007 OR 2007-2008 school years.;so that you can finish all the paperwork or online applications & get an answer soon enough to cover tuition in time for registration at school. Plus, See if she can get a grant, sometimes they will give them if certain conditions are met and that's some $ you don't have to pay back. It's still April she could maybe qualify for a scholarship from a local charity or someplace. Ask around. Big corporations often have scholarships for communnity members and for their employees' families to go to college. Is she going far away or nearby? Talk to the financial aid office if possible and see if they have a booklet or list of available scholarships or community grants.

If you are going to use the government for a loan you can apply online. It's called a FAFSA for short. and you can find it at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Now. She'll probably have to pay a certain amount when she registers for classes, but you can bank the money now and at least make a minimal interest on it until then. Plus you (and she) will know that school has been paid for before she starts the semester--big worry off everyone's mind. And one less thing to have to hustle with over the summer when you ought to be spending as much time as you can with your daughter, getting things she's going to need for school, just enjoying her company, etc.

You should have had the FAFSA completed already to determine if you are eligible for a PLUS loan for you or if she is eligible for a Stafford Loan. Your school will let you know when exactly to apply for the loans.
