Are drug and explosive dogs the same dogs?

I was wondering if the police used the same dogs, training each of them both in drug search and explosive searches. or do you need separate dogs to train them differently? can a dog perform BOTH functions, detecting both explosives and drugs or can it only perform one or the other?

The drug dogs cannot sniff out explosives because they quite literally are too stoned and explosives are a very sensitive smell. have you ever tried sniffing a raspberry after ten lines of coke. no chance mate.
Anyway, they are now training up sniffer cats too.

No, a military working dog, or police dog cannot be trained in both. The dog can only be trained in one or the other. The dogs are not stoned, they are taught to associate the oder with play. Basically making finding the item into a game that the dog wants to play.

Military dogs are trained to do both, Police dogs generally only perform one or the other. But some departments do have dogs that are multi-taskers.

No they are not the same dog. The scents are nothing alike and the dogs are trained for one job only.

I think some do both, but some you get are specifically for drug enforcement. I think you can even get dogs that will sniff out people that are trapped out of view or things.

dogs can only sniff for one kind of things eather drugs or eplosives i know from experence their was a bomb scare at my school so they braught in a bomb sniffing dog and went right past my locker when i had a half ounce of nugget in it
