maybe because they were wearing WATER shoes at the mall and the movies and dinner. Unless you live underwater stick to the water shoes when you in water. Then people won't look at your kids funny.

There is nothing wrong wearing water shoes, and not wearing them in the water. I remember back in 1990, which was my Jr. Year in High School. I seen a kid wore water shoes with shorts, and without socks. To me water shoes are almost like sandals, but your toes not exposed, If they strare at your kids again, do not be afraid to ask them why. I wouldn't worry about it, though.

I have no ide. water shoes are made for water, but it shouldn't be that big a deal.
Maybe their attention was focused on something else?
But don't sweat it, if they WERE staring at them b/c of the water shoes then they people were being rude.
If your children weren't made uncomfortable by the attention then water shoes at the mall again..
-but if they were made to feel uncomfortable then perhaps next time a different choice of footwear would be better

I really hate water shoes (eeeeeew)...I didn't even know they still made them. Nobody should wear water shoes in or out of the water...they are hideous. I feel the same way about those Teva shoes (those should be outlawed)!

Who cares?
Let them stare! Maybe your kids are exceptionally good-looking.
Mostly, they probably stared because your kids are exceptionally happy.
And, why are they happy?
Because you let them wear their beloved water shoes to the mall, the movies and to dinner!
Good for you!

Maybe it was because they were wearing water shoes. Most parents make their kids wear proper shoes for going out.You are not teaching themto wear appropiate footwear. They are okay for the beach and home.

If that's the reason, that doesn't give people the right to stare at you and give you funny looks. So what if you all had on ugly shoes?
