Boston Terrier they are a smaller breed, perfect with families and kids, easily bathed, drys quick, short hair, no shedding, no grooming the perfect little dog. They arent tiny that you step on them but arent too big. They are a big dog in a little body they are very personaltive very friendly and an all out great dog.

The dogs you don't need to get are : Chihuahuas (are not good with kids, they have a short temper) - Shar-pei (naturally a lil aggressive) - or Jack Russel's (they are VERY hyper and will tear up just about anything in sight, however they are very smart) English bulldogs (VERY high maintenance meaning health wise they have several health issues almost all of their life, skin issues, if they get pregnant they will have to have a c-section, and breathing problems) - A good choice for what you listed above are : Beagels (very smart and lots of fun!) pugs (they don't bark a lot, not overly hyper, and are not very likely to snap at kids, but they also have a chance with some breathing issues later in life) - Corgi's (great with kids and very easy to train) - Mini Schnauzer (require grooming)- and White West Terrier (playful and easy to train also - and very loving, but they need grooming also) -The main thing is get somthing that your whole family will be happy with too - I hope this helps and good luck in your search!!

Small dogs are for some reason extremely hard when it comes to housebreaking them. Someone above mentioned Boston Terriers, they are great dogs but from my experience they can't hold their bodily fluids. I would recommend an English Bulldog, they are the best dogs around people, short haired, and super easy to train.

I would prefer Yorkshire Terrier.... It went along very well with an 8 year-old.... I bought it when it was a baby so it naturally learned where to potty and stuff. Yorkshire usually have long hair, but I cut the hair short. It looked very cute and Terier usually stays small.

Did you know every 30 sec. a dog dies in a shelter?
Go to your local animal shelter and adopt!
they are just as good as any other dog. and you could probably find one that meets all of your needs to.
