yes, being spiritual is different than being religious.

I can say an example here. When i went to temple to pray god, i met a person who was saying there is a program for kids and elder who can learn slogas and it's meaning. And teach them languages and so many good purana stories and all those which was good for kids. But while finishing it he explained me a bad sutiation. He said that this organisation will help the people to support the hindus, like in bombay there was a hindu muslim fight. And the money which we give to that organisation will help the hindus to fight in court and bring them out.

I was kind of angry when he says like this to me. And he finally said, if i did not come to this organisation, i am not hindu. I would think he was real stupid. Religious faith should be there. But how come this guys knows the fight between hindus and muslims. He did not know the reason why they fought. Without knowing whos mistake how can he blame muslims. This guy can be religious, but it should not be like blaming others.

This kind of persons are like religious. As they feel their god is the best and good. But spiritual means, All gods are one. so they pray and follow what god says. Some just follow the god whom the like. But they don't discourage other gods.I feel this is spiritual. In spiritual, you will try to relise god is inside you. If you relise, It the joyfull of your whole life, more than what you are buying your favorite things with your own hardwork and your own money.

I didn't mean to hurt that guy here. Just explained how religious he was but it is not the way the religons should be taken. No offence and i did not mean to hurt anyone here. It is just my opinion.

Yes and no.

Many people would say that they are spiritual, but not religious. That is, they will say that they believe in a higher power, but they don't believe the power will be found in a church building.

Many religious people can be found in churches who believe in a higher power such as God, but they are not spiritual. That is, if you look at their lives, you'll find that they believe, but do not act on what they believe.

A third category is spiritual and religious. These are people who know the God in whom they believe. They live their lives to please Him. They share in the joy of a relationship with God. You'll find them enduring in hard times while the purely religious or purely spiritual may be falling apart.

Being religious means, indulging in a faith blindly. Like we do as Hindus, and other followers like Islam, Christianity etc. do as per their bringing up.

The religions make us stubborn and often intolerant to others. It survives on the strength of a community. And feeling of pride in belonging to one's religion is inherrent in it.

The spirituality on the other hand is the inside urge of feeling of eternity. It is natural to all the human beings, and if they ponder over this subject for a while, they will themselves feel that I and you are not different from each other. We may be of different classes in our spiritual levels, but we all feel the inside urge the same way.

In my experience, to be truly religious is to be spiritual. However, it's easy to -say- you are religious and not have the spiritual understandings of your religion. To act religious all that is required is to show your membership card...but to be truly religious is to understand the depths. Which religion does not have the spiritual at its very heart?

Being Spiritual is communicating with the creator. Being religious is conservative, orthodoxy, superstitious. Spiritualism leads one to understand self. Spiritualism is enlightenment, knowledge whereas being religious is perpetuating ignorance.

I guess it's all in how you use them. I use the terms interchangably, but obviously some people disagree with me, judging by the postings you've received already. If you're truly religious, you're just seeking to find God (or the Divine, or some Universal Truth), and to find your relationship with it. That to me is spirituality.

Religious means u follow a particular religion, its texts, its paths and the various rituals that go with it.
While being spiritual, u need not follow a particular religion but advance in the journey of upliftment of yr soul .!!!!!!! e.g. meditation etc.

Absolutely!

Being religious is going through the motions: Going to church, Bible Study, paying tithe, etc.

But being spiritual is the relationship with God. The experience, the change that happens to a person that is connected with God.

Spirituality is fairly basically ideals with regard to the international etc. Spirituality itself has no regulations, regulations, enterprise, leaders, etc.
