Speaking about religion, the Sufi mystic Rumi once said, "The lamps are many, but the light is One."

Do you think this is true? Why?

Thanks for the comments, folks, I'm always interested what people think about quotes like this one.

Tina (or anyone else): why can there be only one right way?

Remember in order for one religion to be right all the others must be wrong.
There can only be one right way, because two religions can not say different things and both be right. If two religions agree on everything, then they are the same religion. If they disagree on something, then one must be wrong. This is called logic.
I know logic and religion don't go together, but I am just using it to explain something. Sorry if this causes confusion.

Same as saying 'a rose by any other name is still a rose'....

All lights are from the same source "energy". Here if I may, Rumi was referring to the Almighty. The unity of God. The Almighty is one and we but in ITS image.

That there are many religions and faiths but the source of all those religion is but ONE.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Sure. I really doubt that there are a thousand gods and only one is the 'real' one.

People perceive God in many ways, that doesn't make many gods.

I do.. He is saying that there are many ways of seeing "God", but they are all still God.
I adore Rumi. Thanks for posting this!
