Any sexual activity between anyone other than the marriage of 1 man and 1 woman who love each other is called fornication.
Fornication would be disrespectful to each of the parties involved due to God's intent for sexual activity to be for pleasure and reproduction of children for the married couple.
People who are married and love each other are a great example to their children. Children must learn by the example that their parents have taught them in order for them to lead a life dedicated to God. Other wise, children grow up with wrong values which will hurt them.

I have no training in theology, and my grandfather was a protestant, but my father was atheist because of his hellfire father.
But to put it plainly, not trying to be ignorant.
I think fornication means, fucing - just for the sake of fucing - the two people or more, are not connected in mind, it is only on a carnal level - a release - it has nothing to do with whether you are married or not. The law of the land does recognize common law marriage, so two people living together are not fornicating.
To make love - is to have a connection with the mind of the other person, this is not abusive, and there is no loss of dignity.
Fornication is just mindless sex.

Sex outside of marriage is wrong. It is disrespectful of the dignity of both men and women. Marriage is the only proper place for sex. Within marriage sex is for bringing forth children which the parents will love and educate.
Fornication is sex between a man and a woman outside of marriage. If one is married to someone else that person is committing adultery and the unmarried person is fornicating. It is against the laws of God, because it is against the laws of Love. Sex outside of marriage is using another person for your own pleasure.

Hi, Great Question...I am a theology major..The statement is saying..You should not sleep with a person who you are not married to..It takes away from the dignity of a human when they behave like this..You can also shorten your life here on earth, by behaving like this in front of young people..Why? We are accountable for everything that we do in the eyesight of God Almighty (Our Creator) God Almighty said in his word..quoted from the king james holy bible-->"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus"..
