"What does conversion mean to you?" - It means that after much careful thought a person has freely desided to take another path instead of the path they were born/raised as child. Usually this is done with much care as they are unhappy somehow; and a need, a vacant ache has grown that must be paid serious attention to.
I actually do not know, why people are wired they way they are, only GOD knows. Some see in a faith not theirs a bonding and happiness they do not presently have. Others see a removal of materialism and a more focused approach to understanding their place in the universe. Others see bingo winnings and church socials. Some may want to be remembered as Saints are.
Many are non-violent faiths and this is atractive to some others. Other faiths are acient, and this ties the converted to early man. Some families have shamans in their family tree and the great great grandchildren may convert because of this family tie.

I would call it the conversion of Christianity to pseudo-Judaism by fundamentalists. Let's face it: they worship Jews. That's their god. Nothing to do with mine.
Maybe I should say "philo-judaism.
