with all of the "united states was founded on christian values"
questions and answers that i see i have to ask.

do these people even have values.

their most quoted part of the Bible is Leviticus, which they ignore half of and use the other half to cater to their own bigotry/phobias.
they ignore anything that would effect their way of life yet demand that others follow the parts that they feel are relevant.

they make claims that are totaly irrevelant to the world today. instead, focusing on what might have been believed by somebody over 200 years ago.

and if you go beyond that and read the O.T. the god described makes Freddy Krueger look like a nice guy.

then some guy (Jesus) comes along to tell people of a peacful god, and is killed for it.

50 years after his death people start writeing about him

and these people claim that these writeings are the exact word of god?

what is wrong with this picture, or is it a Picasso? beauty in chaos or something?

'Christian Values' is just another term made up by a bunch of people who think that you're not moral if you're not Christian. And about the Leviticus thing, tell me about it. I'm a person who belongs to a category which was persecuted because Leviticus says so. Yeah, I'm a homosexual guy. I get condemned to hell by many Christians every time I come here. I'm called a mental case, sinner and that "The devil loves me". They totally ignore other laws set by Leviticus (Clothes of different materials, dietary laws, etc) and come bitching about how I and the likes of me will burn in hell. Really hypocritical and saddending.

"Totally" is usually an exaggeration!

I believe -and I've been listening over 50 years, that the "most quoted" part of the Bible is John 3:16. -"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Your soap box is already on slippery ground!

It may , or may not have been written 50 years after his death, but the JOYFUL fact is not When it was written, but rather that it indeed WAS written. (John actually live to be 90 years old so he could easily have waited so long. But why would he want to do that. His record DOES have more of the actual words of Jesus than any of the other Gospels. He was the youngest, so it's probable that he would be able to remember more actual words while the others -being older- remembered more events

BUT, there ARE "Christian values"! Follow some Christians -I don't mean people out of big churches- But people who are SHOWING themselves to be like Jesus. They will live for others. They will be kind! They probably won't be materially rich: They won't be dropping bombs on the other side of the earth. They will be interested in the helpless and the weak and the wronged.

But they will NOT sit back and allow untruths and misconceptions to be spread all around and established as fact, without standing up and trying to STOP it! THAT'S where they'll draw the line. And they'll be using a LOT more ammo than Leviticus.

My reason for not wanting to be a Christian, when I was an athiest was that I already KNEW what Jesus wanted -at least I thought I did-, and I didn't WANT to! But, Hey..the values were there!
Gimme a break, little kids even know what Christian values are. Could it be that you don't like 'em 'cause you want to do some other stuff?

Christ was written about around 20 to 30 years after His death. Not 50, now that might not seem like a lot, but 20 to 30 years is a good while.

The Bible is not irrelevant in the modern world. The same principles apply then as now. And if you can't see that then i'm afraid that you are blind.

Plus, that is a reason that i do not qoute Levitcus, it was for the Jewish people. The New Testemant is what i turn to, and the same principles carry there (homosexuality, killing) it is in the New Testemant also.

pay interest, i'm no longer loopy about McCain both, yet you at the instantaneous are not making any experience right here. Why can't Christians have values that human beings have already had? i'm keen to guess that discouragement of robbery and homicide lengthy predates even mesopotamia, yet that no way means that they weren't midsection tenets of Judaism and later Christianity. there is not any declare that both faith invented those values, basically that this set of values is embraced through those human beings. i'd not ask you to vote for Mr. McCain, yet don't be too happy with your education- overthinking might want to be in simple terms as misguided as straight forward popularity.

Yes, there are Christian values....like the 10 commandments...you know things like thou shalt not kill.....
There is a lot more involved here. We believe the Bible and would like you to too but at the moment I get the feeling you're really not interested in finding out who Jesus is or what He is all about. But Jesus can bring beauty from ashes. He took away the all the time, constant, everyday pain I had in my knees after having 4 knee surgeries. He is real but there is no way I can explain to you the peace in my heart, it's something you have to experience to really know. And you can find the Lord if you seek Him with all of your heart....when you are ready of course.

Try reading the Sermon On The Mount. Matt, 5:1-7:29. It contains pointed references to the law, the prophets, and the individual calling and responsibility of deciples and Christians.

Yes. Jesus sums it up this way:
"Love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. On these two hang all the law and the prophets."
Jesus wasn't killed because of what He taught.
He laid down His life for us, and then rose from the dead that we all might have eternal life.
God is not Freddy Krueger. If you really read the Bible yourself, instead of going by what bitter people say about it, you would realize that.

I'm pretty certain that Walmart has cornered the market on values. To some this is Heaven already especially if they can sneak it out the door without paying for it. Christianity has evolved over time. We're just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with it. If you don't like it then you can just go to Shell. (Drive Offs will be prosecuted.)

Well, I agree with god.. if you look at the real story behind the colonization of the U.S... the desecration of the people AND the land (in fact, take a look at May's National Geographic for a fantastic article on Jamestown-the real story), I'd say it coincides with "christian values" for sure.

Darling what is wrong, is: satan has your eyes so blinded, that you could not see the truth if it was written on your eyeballs..

You also forgot to quote..Lost People having ears that can't hear..eye that can't see..because satan has blinded the children of this world who chose not to submit to there Creator..

also...
feet quick to mischief..a lying tongue..man that shed innocent blood..

What about being given over to reprobated mind whereas you start believing your own lies..

This is what you are doing now..I am not talking about you at all..I am telling you the truth..This is what you are saying at this listing

I pray in JESUS name that God will lead you to his will for your life, before it is too late..

Much love and prayers to you !
