While salt in the diet is very essential for life, too much is very dangerous indeed. High blood pressure, heart disease or stroke are all possible results of too much salt. However, and this is VERY important, if you feel that your salt intake is too high and you're suffering any of the above health problems, then you MUST reduce your salt intake gradually; over a period of many weeks, if not months. A rapid reduction will leave you with high blood pressure and soft arteries. Which is something that you DO NOT want.

Too much salt is linked to high blood pressure, which in turn can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The body needs a certain amount of sodium to function properly.

Sodium helps to maintain the concentration of body fluids at correct levels. It also plays a central role in the transmission of electrical impulses in the nerves, and helps cells to take up nutrients.

Why is too much salt bad?

In adults, when levels of sodium are too high, the body retains too much water and the volume of bodily fluids increases

Hope this helps.

i'm not sure if eating 6 grams of salt a day can help you lose belly flab.
but i do know that too much salt/sodium may cause hypertension.
salt also retains water, so it's more likely that you'll gain weight.

hypertension can lead to kidney problem, and as your kidney deteriorate, it may have difficulties in processing excess water, thus the water retention may get worse and cause bloating/swelling in some body parts.
