Jealous no, but I do give credit where credit is due unlike Gordon fans. I didn't like him as a person, as a driver, he's going to be up there with the greatest of the sport and people hating or disliking him will ever take that away. As a person, I just flat out dont like his attitude and when Dale Sr died, he should have been the person that stepped up into his shoes to stop all the stupid bull@#@$ that is going on in Nascar now adays. He whines worse than my daughter, and for too many years he was fake. The reason people like myself went from hating to disliking is because he has let his guard down some and is acting more like a human than a robot.

With all that said, I'm a long time Dale Sr and Jr fan, I thought it was stupid that so many people got pissed off about him flying the 3 on the track. I thought it was classy and I really liked that he done it. I feel that Dale is to often forgotten, and he payed tribute to the best driver and considered it an honor to tie a record of his. Although he'll never tie the 7 championships, I do think he will get his 5th this year and it will be his final one.

First off I am not a Gordon hater, but I am not a fan.
When he raced the #1 "Baby Ruth Ford" in Busch I was the biggest fan.
Though I (and other fans)felt that some under the table wrangling went on when he went from Busch to Cup.Ford had him signed for Cup,but there was a lawsuit and his Ford contract was ruled null and void. The next day he signed the infamous "Lifetime" contract with Hendricks.
Then during his rookie season there was an autograph session that went too far.The sign stated 700 autographs. There was a man and his sons(about 5 and 7 or close to it) behind me.My number was 699 the man had 700.The security pulled the rope between the man and his sons. The security would not let the 2 boys in line .Several of us attempted to get the guard to let the boys in he refused stating 700 only they would be 701 and 702.Me and several more got out of line and dropped our Gordon merchandise in a trash can. This incident was written and sent to Hendricks racing and Gordon. They stated parents and children should not be seperated. But the harm was done.
Now Gordon is one of the top 5 drivers in NASCAR today, and I have picked him to win Talladega.I wish him luck but I will be cheering Sunday for
Joe Gibbs Racing.

No, got to admit thats a good point. I'm a huge Jeff Gordon fan, but its a pride thing more then likely. I mean no one is going to go from being say a Jr. fan to loving Gordon. Yes over the years they may gain a little more respect for the guy but that's not going to completely change someone's opinion about him. It's jsut something that will probably never change.

I don't like Jeff Gordon, but I don't exactly hate him, either. What bothers me the most about him is the double standards he has. He gets angry when someone, especially a team mate, passes him. The are race car drivers! That is what they are supposed to do! I guess I only have a problem when he acts as if everyone should bow down to him. Get over yourself!

Maybe so, but we all have our reasons for liking who we like. For instance, I became a Fan in Gordon's rookie year way back when (93 I believe). My Brother was involved in a program like Make a wish foundation, and he wanted to go to the races. He has multiple sclerosis. A friend of his was a huge fan of another driver, drivers name with held, and the kid had brain tumors and arthritis to the point of crippling and made a scale die-cast model of said driver's car. All the kid wanted was for the driver to sign it...took the kid almost a year to build it. Well that driver and Gordon crashed out 2/3 of the race through and the kid was lifting this car to the other driver begging him to autograph it. The driver swatted the car out of the kids hands and it crashed to pieces on the pavement. I was so mad I wanted to rip the other drivers head off. The kid cried and cried. Well, Gordon saw this, went to the kid and started handing over 24 memorabilia including the hat he was wearing and a jacket. He talked to the kid for nearly an hour. One thing I over heard was "hey kid, don't let mean people ruin this sport for you, not all of us are like that and even he isn't like that normally, its just a bad day". I was in tears at the outpouring of fan loyalty in this rookie. So in closing GORDON ROCKS!!!! :)

Why would we be jealous of someone who's still gleefully awaiting puberty?
