All dogs get 3 sets of shots, beginning at about 4 - 6 weeks of age. The first and second set of shots are called DHLPP and depending on your city laws, may or may not have to be admistored by a vet. Otherwise you can actually find them for pretty cheap at most feed stores. They get the shots every 2-3 weeks and the third set of shots is usually given around week 12 with the rabies vaccine. Now the reason for this is that most mother will wing there puppies at 4-6 weeks of age, however, it take anywhere from 4-6 additional weeks to get the mothers antibodies from her milk out of the puppies body. So the shots usually will not take until the third set. However, the antibodies may get out of the body earlier and there for you need to do the 3 sets to help protect the puppy from distemper and parvo. Most vets usually do a puppy package and may or may not include the spay or neuter for that puppy. If it is included, then it cost about $100 dollars, other wise, it is around $30 to $50 for the puppy package. Now also, petsmart and petco run low cost vaccine clinics on the weekends once a month, so you can get them for as little as $20. Every year after that they will need another DHLPP, and Rabies. Now in some places you can get a 3 yr rabies and I have heard that they are coming out with a 3 yr DHLPP. But the dog would have to be 1-2 yrs old. Hope this helps you.

A puppy needs a series of 3 vaccinations (they should NEVER be started before the puppy has completed his 7th week and preferably 8-9 weeks)

8-9 weeks distemper/parvo/canine hepatitis/adenovirus-2
12 -14 weeks repeat
16 -18 weeks repeat

20 weeks or older rabies

A year from the date of the last vacciantion a booster is given and then no more for 3 years

Lepto, parainfluenza, lymes and bordatella (kennel cough) should NOT be given to every dog..only those that are at high risk of exposure.

Coronavirus, adenovirus-1 and giardia should NOT be given to any puppy/dog ever.

The above is the recommended protocol from the AAHA and all 27 vet schools. It is also the one recommended from studies by Dr.Jean Dodds and Dr. Ron Schultz.

Depends on what the pup has already had; we don't know that.
Try this site:

If you are concerned about prices check and see if your vet or the local shelter offers a vaccine clinic. I think PetSmart does as well.
