All I do anymore is cough. And I seem to do fine as long as I lie around and don't do anything but the minute I move ---- there it goes again!
And I hate to go and disturb people and there are elderly there and others that may be afraid of catching something.. ( I don't even know if I have anything to catch)
But on the other hand I wonder if it is unfair to NOT go to church. For example, if I have to go somewhere I do. I just take my cough drops with me. And if I cough I cough. Tomorrow my daughter has a Dr appt and I fully intend to go with her. Am I being fair to God or the ppl in the church?

BTW, yes I have been to the Dr and she thinks it is either allergies or asthma. so far none of the meds I've taken have worked.

Some churches tape their sermons. There might even be another place in church where you won't bother anyone but can still listen. I think a baby crying is most annoying but someone coughing might make them cringe if you're near enough. Maybe you should see a throat specialist instead. Try eliminating things out of your system especially your favorite foods and perfumes, hair sprays or just search allergy symptoms. I used to have asthma reactions to other peoples perfumes especially in church.

I've had a similar problem this past month. I came down with a deep chest cold March 30 and it has lingered for over four weeks. I have missed four Sundays and I won't go tomorrow either. For three weeks I did little more than sleep, eat, and watch TV. In week 2 I went to the doctor and got antibiotics, which worked, but not thoroughly. Gradually most of the congestion went away, but some little smidgen still lingers.

I returned to work this past week. I'll probably return to church the first Sunday of May. Somehow, I like the idea of spending an entire month without going to church.

It sounds as if you've been going to work. Try not going. Give yourself a good rest for a week, even if it's an unpaid sick leave. See if you can get your mother or sister or spouse or a friend to spend more time with the children.

Keep praying and talking to God in your solitude. Phone or e-mail your church friends and ask them to pray for you. If you still miss church too much, go, but sit in the back and limit your contact with others. You might consider attending a different church where no one knows you, or listening to a service on TV or the radio.

I'll pray for you, too.

Whether or not you should go depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want to listen to a sermon, then go to church during a sermon and use tactics to decrease the disruptiveness of your coughs (ex: take cough suppressants, sit in a corner in the back, muffle coughs with your hand). Alternatively, you might be able to watch recorded sermons (on TV, for instance) or schedule a time with your preacher to have a sermon just for you. If you want to accomplish something that can be accomplished without going to church (ex: socializing w/ members of your church), then don't go to church during a service where your coughing would be disruptive.

I wonder what the excuses were the other 3 weeks...church is like 1 1/2 hours a week....did you have time for tv? did you have time for work? where are your priorities? if you cant go you cant go, join a bible study and see the same church family there when you miss Sunday worship.

There is a saying that once you miss 3 or more weeks you're more likely to stay away from church. You say it's either asthma or allergies so they aren't contagious. Sounds like you're looking for an excuse to me ... like you said, you're going out with your daughter tomorrow.

God must not want you to go or else he would let you stop coughing. Just remember it is God's will. Maybe he wants you to go and disrupt things.

Are you sure the reason you don't want to go to church is because you have an illness? Or are you sick because you don't want to go?

Why did god let u get sick if u were serving HIM before u got sick 3weeks ago? He should've protected u from all illness.
