In my opinion, when fear is used to indoctrinate anybody into anything, it is abuse, plain and simple, no question about it.
This is especially true in the case of young children and overbearing, close-minded parents. What a sad reality, that this is how bias and hatred are proliferated in our society.
And it's really the same, whether you're talking about religion or politics, isn't it.
It's one thing to teach your children what you believe and instill values in them that you feel will help them grow and develop into the best people they can be, but do NOT use
negative, fear-driven tactics in doing this, and do NOT seek to stifle their natural tendency to question and think for themselves. This, in fact, should be encouraged and celebrated!

I think this is a very subjective question. I am not Christian though I was at one time ... I was raised in a Roman Catholic household and my parents are still Catholic though I am Wiccan. I am also a parent of two children whom I am raising Wiccan and I am sure a Christian parent could ask the same question of me.
I believe that children need to understand that there are things in this world bigger than themselves. I also believe that children need to have a concept of spirituality ... some sort of understanding of their spiritual-side and I believe that this is the responsibility of the parent(s). At some point in their lives they will begin questioning whatever it is they are taught and at that time I believe that the parents should open up the doors and show the children that there are many different paths to the same end however, at the start, they should be taught something and if it happens to be Christianity because that is what their parents are ... then so be it.

Should never use fear to teach anything. Not sure what is a filthy religion either. You should be told of all religions and then make up your own mind without fear.

As an atheist you will do the same. will you allow your children to look at all the different options that are out there and let them decide or will you tell them that an atheist is what they should be. Will you use the fear of there becoming indoctrinated into a religion to scare your children into being atheists

Teaching a child to love God, know Christ as his Lord and Savior, and to respect others isn't abusive. The child grows up secure in who he is because he knows that God is his loving Father in Heaven, and he also understands that he is to treat others the way that he wants to be treated. This is part of a Christian parent's responsibility to their children.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Given your abusive and disrespectful attitude in this forum, you could benefit from a few lessons in courtesy and respect, yourself.

concern good factors in faith in a huge way. a real Believer™ is totally confident from an early age that ‘god’ is familiar with each little thing they say, think of and do; they are additionally confident that in the event that they don’t suck as much as the enormous fella interior the sky that he’ll deliver them to hell for all eternity. This faith is super on concern. Couple this with the xians’ cowardice in no longer desirous to stand existence on my own and his no longer desirous to take duty for each little thing they say and do and you have somebody with the want for a versatile myth that's able to something. concern is the final weapon extraordinarily against people who're actual inspired or lead.

I don't give my children a choice in going to church because they need to know God and his will. They can live the way they choose to when they are on their own but, the Bible says lead the children in the way they should go and they will not stray when they are older.

When you use fear to prevent your child from running in front of a truck, do you not see that as abusive?

I am not religious, but certainly I can understand that people of a religion would raise their children in that religion. Why all the hate?
