Some of the descendants of those immigrants have contracted the most vicious disease on earth--bigotry.

Wasn't it inscribed on the Statue of Liberty.
Didn't the French give us the Statue of Liberty.

No wonder we hate the French. They wanted the poor and Hungry to come here rather than France.

It has gone the way of the wind since alot of non-north americans come here to get most everything for free and say they love this country but then leave never to return . Then you also get the illegal immigrants who when protesting hold up flags of the country they were born in and praise that country yet say they want to be an American but don't hold up an American flag or praise America. I am all for them coming here to make a better life and to become an American but not to come here just to live off of this great country.

This is part of a poem on a plaque on the statue of liberty. It represents an ideal this country was founded on. Read some American history. No where on this plaque does it state that this gives every immigrant in the world a free pass to come into America. Times have changed, so have the ideals of the people.
We are not the dumping ground of the world for Mexico. Their people need to stand up and make some changes in their own country. Instead, with no HONOR whatsoever, they turn yellow tail and leave. Then have the nerve to try to change America when they were too big of a coward to stand up in their own country.
I think all illegal immigrants need to be shipped to Gitmo.

Ummm, everyone (including my ancestors) who came through Ellis Island DID IT LEGALLY. When you come to America, you must abide by OUR LAWS. So if it's ok for someone to break our immigration laws, it's ok for someone to rob a bank too? It doesnt say that you cant do that on the statue of liberty.

DOWN WITH ILLEGALS, THEY ALL NEED TO GO BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM AND COME HERE LEGALLY

We have one of the most liberal immigration policies in the world. We have legal immigrants from every race and every corner of the world. It was not ment for ILLEGAL immigrants and every poor person on the planet who wants to come here and not abide by our laws. We have legal immigration and guest worker visas and a whole load of ways for people to come here legally and we also have the right to say ENOUGH already. We can't take care of the worlds poverty or take care of every person who just wants to come here. Especially rude arrogant ones that come illegally and try and turn this country into the pit they came out of.

Hey, its still there, just needs to be done legally. See, people came by boat to Ellis Island and thru paperwork, recorded arrival and worked towards and became citizens.

The estimated 12 million Illegals have no such paper trail, are here illegally, and should be fined, and made to either work towards becoming a citizen or, deported to their country of origin.

No free rides, no amnesty, either work and become a citizen or leave.

Go right ahead and take them.

We in the US take 1 to 2 million immigrants legally each year, and that alone strains our schools and services without those breaking our laws to take what we pay for.

It still exists. Millions of people immigrate to USA LEGALLY. It's the illegal ones that need to be kicked out. Why should Mexicans be able to come to America before the rest of the world?

The ones that came in wanted to change the saying and don't feel they should do as someone once did for theirs.
