The UK has a Constitutional Monarchy the Queen has no real power to make law that is Parliaments job. She can make recommendations and open and close Parliament but otherwise has very little power.
The average Brit may believe in god but usually will not talk about it to others nor try to gain converts... how do I know this? I am married to a Brit and have met his whole family.
They know quite a bit about freedom actually. My husband took me to the beach near his mums home, a beach that still has the bases for the gun turrets used to protect the shore in World War II. My husband's grandfather fought in the War and his grandfather's brother died in the effort to keep Hitler out of England.
Maybe you should read a few more history books.

ummmm, the Queen doesn't run the country, the prime minister does.
America is much more religious then Great Britain and many other European countries.
from one American to another we aren't exactly THAT free of a nation. Freedom of speech is a joke, such double standards on it. You have to qualify to have the "right to bear arms" so much for that freedom. It certainly wasn't hard for the Bush administration make spying on us legal. and separation of church and state is even a joke, the Christians run the government, this is why it took so long for us to accept paganism in the military, this is why gay marriage is such an issue, this is why scientific research is restricted time and time again from doing certain studies. They call them moral issues but that is just a mask for what they truly are, religious issues.

I think you need to learn something about history. We wanted to make George Washington King! Most nations in Europe are Democracies. The UK is a democracy. The Queen doesn't have political post she is a figure head.
There are too many people in the US pushing their religious agenda, and wanting to impose their views on everybody else including George Bush.
By the way the Church of England is not a state run church and is not involved in their political process.

You answered your own question. They have a State run Church. This is not true religion/Christianity.
Do you know the true history of how the State run, Church of England (Anglican Church) came to be? It is shameful.
Amazing at the "thumbs down" marks showing support for a church founded in Adultery, Murder, and Divorce.

Our ancestors broke away from Britain a long time ago to get away from that type of thinking.
