Ever since MS Office 2000 - all files were automatically backwards compatible. They (being Microsoft) screwed up with Office 95...or Office 97 and didn't add tht feature.

So you shouldn't have a problem. Initially.

I say initially because depending on any features you may use tht are not available for previous versions - those features will not work. So if you really want to be on the safe side - save your file "down" to a lower version.

In the "save as" window, click the drop down window for "file of type" and choose a lower setting. Like to a previous version.

But provided you are just doing "simple" spreadsheet stuff - you shouldn't have a problem. But...if you do - you can always just save it down (technically it's called "dummying down")

No, not unless they have the Microsoft converter pack.

The best thing to do... when you save the file in the 2007 version... File>save as and right under where you put the name of the file... drop that box down and choose the older (xls) format.
