Do you think that this is wrong?
My SS Teacher is racist
First of all: My test average in her class for the 1st quarter was an 85....and my project grade was 100. She gave me a 88 on my report card. Also, during the first marking, she collects 4 random classnotes and checks if you did them right. She gave me a 15/20 (which is a 75) and she added it to my grades....so i ended up with an 88
Then the second marking period- i got a 20/20 on classwork (100), my test score average was a 90, and project was 100. I got an 80 on my 2nd quarter, which some of you might think is not bad, but i got kicked off honor roll and was embarassed by my whole class..since i was the only one who got an 80 and everyone else got a 100 in her class. (Yes, 100's for every single student except me) My parents came up to her and asked her why i got an 80 after my test scores were awesome, my classwork was great, and my project grade was great...do you know what she said? "your daughter got a 75 on her notes!"

how is that possible when i got a 20/20 on my classnotes....
guess what...she added the 75 from the first quarter into my second quarter average..was she on drugs or something? other kids in my class got 5's(as in 5/20) on the classnotes on the first and second marking periods...and they all got a 100 on their average. What is wrong with her?

From what you have provided I would say that your grade appears to be wrong. I would urge you not to keep on calling your teacher names as it will not help your case. You want the subject of your argument over your grade to be on the merits of your case and not about thinking or calling your teacher names. Take the High Road here.

I would suggest that you and your parents schedule an appointment with the school Principal, Vice Principal or Department Head, which ever is appropriate, and all of you meet with this person and present your cause. Under no condition should you say anything derogatory against your teacher. Present the facts as you have here and and again ask why your grade was lowered. State politely that the answer the teacher gave you did not seem at all fair given your other marks. Ask that a review of your work be conducted by and impartial person or group and their findings be reported to you.

I wish you well.

Someone's math is WAY off. The average of those last grades (with the exception of the alleged 75) is 97. What makes you think she is racist? Are you the only student of your race in her class? It could be possible. I would talk to your parents about it and have them bring it up with the principal. If that doesn't work, take it straight to the board. If there is no obvious reason for her to give you the grades that she has been giving you, then she should most definitely be reported! Some people are just unfair. *sigh* Sorry it had to to happen to you though...

I guess what strikes me as odd is that EVERYONE but you got a 100%. That is darn near impossible-think about it. In all classes I have attended, the grades go from the F to A range. Is that not true of your other classes?
You may not like this suggestion, as you are pretty upset with her, but go to her and ask what you can do to improve your grade. Listen to what she says. then ask her how she arrived at your previous grades. Or ask the grading question first.
How did you find out everyone else got a 100%? I know your grade stinks to you, but there sure is something smelly about EVERYONE else getting a perfect score.
Keep your parents or another teacher you trust involved. Hey! Have your Math teacher go with you when you have the SS teacher explain her averaging.

Wow! What you're dealing with is completely wrong. A teacher isn't allowed to treat some people better than others, but unfortunately they do. And it's impossible to prove that they're discriminating against race or other things. It really stinks that you got kicked off of honor roll. The best thing to do with the teacher is just to deal with them for the rest of the year. If it gets really bad, talk to the principal, but make sure that you have evidence to prove she is being racist. Most likely, there is nothing even the principal can do. Sorry, but just suck it up!

Nothing that you said would make me think she is racist. I've been treated harshly by people of my own race. Some people are just tough. And I hear your side of this story and not hers. Maybe she gave you a sheet that told how she weighs all aspects of your work to come out with an overall grade (she should do that). If she is inconsistent and grades you differently than others, then you have a legitimate issue. But if she uses the same criteria for all students then you just have to adjust to her way of grading.

You and your parents need to go to the principle. Especially if everyone in the class got a 100 and just you got an 80. I don't know if it is racism, but obviously this teacher has something against you and it needs to be resolved.

I would be really really angry too about that because you deserve the grade you said you deserve from all the work you did.....

I think that you should talk to the principal or else confront the teacher. Ask her how it makes sense for her to give you an overall grade that is lower than all of the separate grades you've been getting. Very unfair of her, but I don't necessarily think it's racism..

If your parents have already been to see her, this needs to escalate a step. Keep all your work, keep all your notebooks, and ask your parents to talk to the vice-principal.
PS: Don't start spouting off about your teacher being racist. That isn't going to get you anywhere. You have to take the high road on this and let your teacher demonstrate why your mark differed so greatly from that of your classmates.

Some teachers are like that. They have their pets and no matter how good a student you are, you get scr*wed. I went to a very preppy high school and half the teachers were like that. Try to get the principal/ dean involved if the problem persists. It's not fair to you that people who don't do work as well as you do are getting higher averages.

Sounds like she's got a problem with you, 'cause that makes no sense to me. Other than that, maybe because you are smart she expects even more from you. I had a teacher that told me once he graded me more harshly than my classmates because he could see more potential in me. Rough, and sometimes counter-productive, but a tactic that is used.

If this continues, in spite of your good grades, you and your parents should take the matter to your principal.
