Mostly class room, but they will run alot, learn how to do basicly self defense, and learn how to handcuff, and handcuff, that is about the most important thing they learn since they will be hand cuffing people hundreds of time a day and if done wrong it could be dangerous.

they will learn to search cells, rules of evidence, and how to observe and watch for things.

Some schools do fake hostage situations to show what it can be like.
It will be full contact and hard at times.

I read "BRICK'S" answer. He thinks the academy is prison. What an idiot. Brick. if you are reading this, it is where correction officers get trained for the job. Hello !!!
Anyway, I have several friends who attended the academyi n Galt, CA. Nothing to worry about. They arent made to do weird things like college students do. The first guy who answered is right.
Class work, Running, Exercising, situation demonstrations, firearm
training (most won't carry firearms on the job) stuff like that. These are law obiding job positions. Rest assured your boys will be in good hands.

They do alot of exercise to the point of exhaustion at least twice a day. This really gives teachers a break in class. Most kids pass out and sleep really well. They get fed alot of healthy food. I recently found out that they mix in alot of bulls testicles in the soups and salad dressing (not to be confused with cow feet!). Aparently it's a natural version of ritalin. Kids don't even need discipline when they go to these schools because it kinda gets sorted out between themselves. Survival of the fittest if you know what I mean.

well when i went to the training academy it was for 7 weeks and not very much physical exercise was involved but we did do push ups and we ran a mile every so often and we did diamond push ups as well and a few various other exercises but mainly alot of paperwork was done to ready us for the written part of the job.

You want to ease your mind AFTER they go to a correctional academy? Maybe if you had been a better parent they wouldn't be going - EVER CONSIDER THAT???
