He is my snuggle buddy. He always has to be touching me. He also comes to me when I'm upset and he has the habit of brining one of his treats out of hiding when he sees that I have food... he will drop his treat to give it to me in exchange for food and that just breaks my heart and I usually give him a little of whatever I have. :)

My husband and I knew that we wanted a puppy, it was his gift to me for my birthday. So we sat down and started to talk to breeders in our area. The plan was to get an Irish Wolfhound, a breed that I grew up with, and love. However, while we were looking on the AKC website, my husband happened to notice a group of puppies who had been whelped on the same day as our wedding. Not knowing the breed, we immediately began investigating it, ordered up books from the local bookstore, and contacted the breeder. She and her husband invited us out to come look at the puppies, and both parents whom she had on premises.
When I saw the puppies I was thinking "all right, they are cute, but they are puppies." Then the breeder invited us back to see the parents. The mother was gorgeous. It was the father though....I saw him and started to drool. We went back, and had the pick of two females, we sat and watched them both for half and hour and picked out our girl. A few weeks later we came back and picked her up.
Today, she is just over a year old, and I really could not imagine my life without a Bernese Mountain Dog in it.

Puppies are small and cute, like all baby animals including human babies - that's the way nature programs them, so that adults (animals and people) will take care of them. In your case it's a lot more that makes your dog special, and that's wonderful. So sorry about your brother but hope the dog is a great comfort to you for many years to come.

I have a blank and tan jack russell, called jay Dee after my fave drink. I fell in love with him the moment i saw him at the time he was 8 months old and i was his 3rd owner. There is not a time when he is not wagging his tail, his face is the cutest and he pulls the funniest of faces which makes me laugh no end. No matter what i do he is always there given me his love. would not be without him.

He was a 'second-hand" dog, so to say, and came from an abusive background. I was bending over backwards trying to let him know he was finally safe, in his old age, and had landed in a mountain paradise of no leashes, no collars, no worries, and a loving momma. He was timid about his "constitutional rights", cowed. Eventually, he relaxed and eased into a good life. One day, while I was starting to build a fire in a little pot-bellied stove in the livingroom, he slithered off the sofa in a cute, coy way, dragging his legs behind him. He sat by me where I knelt by the stove, and seemed curious about the "process". I showed him what I was doing, first the wadded up newspaper, then the kindling, then a log. He peeked into the stove and checked it all out. Then, out came the mighty lighter and, whoose, there was FIRE! He then assumed the job of bringing the "right" log, wrestling with it from the pile in his teeth and, plomp, he'd dump it on my foot whenever he was cold and wanted to start a fire. He worked up to "helping" me wad up the newspapers in a playful way. He seemed to be "checking out" whether or not I was doing the "process" correctly. He was very chauvinistic about me being a mere "woman" doing something so complicated. For real. Then, one day, he stopped me before I flicked the lighter. He put his paw so carefully on the top of it, and, you should have seen the expression on his face. It was awe and a sense of honor at having acheived the "right" to touch a maker of fire. He pawed at it then, as though he was flicking it. I pretended to go along with him, all souped up about how he made the lighter work. We both stuck our noses close to the fire and he watched the flame catch and whoosh. Oh, my, he was proud of himself. I fell in love with him that day. I lost him a year ago. His name was Taco.

The first time i looked at my dog Rocco, all i saw was his coat. Its brindle. he kinda looks like a "tiger". Then he looked up at me with his face. The droopy lips, the perked ears and floppy ears. .. I fell in love with him. The lady that had him, had to get rid of him, and i told her, i would take him in a heartbeat. We brought him home and he attached himself to me right away, everywhere i go he has to be there. he is very lovable, and protective of his new family. She told me he was a boxe mastiff mix. When we took him to the vet we found out he was a pure breed pitt. Now im not a pitt person, but i wont hold that against him. I love him to no end, and dont know what i would do with out him. when he spent the night at the vets for his neutering i missed him completely...

I would have to say that I fell in love the minute I held my dogs in my arms and began to take care of them. It just amazes me how they can have these great personalities and actually make you laugh and feel loved on good and bad days.

I think it was her sad eyes that made me rescue her from the Puppy Mill she lived in. Poor darling, kept in a tiny cage and never petted or groomed. She's just the best dog we've ever had and shows her appreciation for rescuing her by loving us to death. She's now a St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog and gets lots of loving from the seniors and sick folks we visit.

I live in Windsor, Ontario and happened to see in a Toledo, OH newspaper a free 3 yr old English mastiff ASAP. I couldn't believe it! I drove to Ohio that same day to get him. He had that "face" and HUGE body! I bent down to pet him and he put his arm around me. That was it...love at first sight. 4 yrs later and he's still a momma's boy :)
He's 6 feet and 230 lbs with a 35 inch neck. I'm 5'2 and 110 lbs and people crack up when I walk him :)

I'm so sorry that your brother passed on: God give him Eternal rest and consolation to you.
I also loved my dog when I first met him because he is so affectionate and playful. Who else leaps (even repeatedly0 into the air when I come into a room?
