I know willy is a whale, thats why... freeing willy means freeing the whale, which means to take the poop out of urself.

Its a reference to freeing a whale, by a teenager. The name of the whale was "Willy".
There is a movie named, "Free Willie".

I think some women literally feel their children would die or not be raised properly if they weren't there to do it - I don't mean that as a bad thing, but look at how few women walk out on their children and leave the parenting to the father, it's very small, and there's a big taboo against it. I think what the writer is saying is that as long as women feel they HAVE to be a parent (because he won't or can't be) then there is not much freedom to make further decisions. Whereas, if women felt their husband / ex was as good a parent as they were, they would have more options. Plus if you are raised by society to believe that is your only possible occupation, you will also feel less free to make other decisions that contradict that. Personally, I agree with the writer's opinion that women shouldn't be raised to feel they only have one option - but I disagree that choosing that option automatically makes you less free - a women who is told she can't raise her child is as unfree as a woman who is told she must :-)

It is from a move called "Free Willy" about a whale. It was based on a real whale named Keiko, who unfortunately is no longer with us because he was freed after being with humans too long. I use to go see him all the time and was very saddened when he died.
