Yes, bring it along, but you don't need to. Depending on the cruise line, you should have internet access via satellite on board the ship when you are at sea.
Some ships have an internet cafe on board, with desktop computers. You can purchase minutes of internet access time at the cafe. They are EXPENSIVE minutes, so you should download your email quickly and answer it offline, then go back online to send your email. Don't plan to play games or browse around or download extensive, large files as your internet cafe bill will be enormous.
As to wireless, that depends on the cruise line's setup. Some have wireless nodes in the main ship lobby or at the internet cafe, and are available if you've purchased a package of online minutes on board the ship.

Most cruise ships now have wireless internet on ship but its expensive as all get out. Even if you buy a package it cost about 10 times what you pay at home. I always suggest that people forget internet on ship and just wait until you get to the port. its cheaper and you get a better connection than you will ever get on a moving ship.
If you want to know specifically what your ship will have, go to the Carnival web site and find your ship and then click on its features; or call carnival and ask them.

It depends on the cruise line. I was on Seabourn and they have WiFi in the cabins. Problem was, in the Caribbean the signal kept getting cut off. I bought a package with a certain number of minutes and ended up with almost two hours I didn't use because I couldn't get connected. And you don't get the money back either!

Generally, yes. However, it is quite expensive to use on board. And it may not be available everywhere on board the ship. If the cruise is on the Sensation, then they have wireless internet on board the ship.
