If you believe in Hell you better be doing something to try to keep people out of it.

Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

If you say, "But we knew nothing about this,"
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

If I believe in hell I SHOULD believe that most people will go there? That depends on what I believe qualifies one to be sent there after they die. On that note, I know that it is necessary to not make final judgments of any specific person. However, generally speaking, there will be many people who will experience the condition we call hell. It is more of a condition than a place. It is a condition of the mind. The mind will agonize over the sins committed in mortality with a fulness of regret, sorrow, and pain. The person will realize that he made certain promises in the premortal life to follow the Plan of Salvation of the Father; likewise, this same person, if he fail, will suffer a remorse of conscience that he spurned the truth and forfeited the opportunity for a weight of glory that surpasses the mind of any human being at this present time. He will be crestfallen.

But why do I believe that MOST people will experience this kind of mental and spiritual pain? Besides common sense (I mean look at the people in the world around you) I have been told by Jesus Christ that the way to destruction is wide, and the gate and way to eternal life is narrow and straight. Jesus says of this latter way, that FEW be there that find it.

Yes, according to the Bible, the road to hell is wide and most people take it. The way to life and salvation is narrow and steep. That is why Christians are so "pushy" about spreading the gospel. We see the cliff up ahead and all the lemmings are headed that way. Atheists resent us telling them that they are headed for the edge of the cliff, and call us stupid for even believing there is a cliff. We know they will hate us, for Jesus himself told us that would happen. but we are told to keep on telling them anyway. Along the way some turn around and take the right path, but only a few.

Unfortunately you're right... The bible says narrow is the way that leads to salvation.. meaning not everyone and most aren't going to make it... christians are supposed to have a sense of urgency... Seeing the state of most people is hell bound and wanting to do what ever they can in action and prayer to help as many people as they can see what Christ as done for them. That's the whole point. We know there are alot who won't listen but we need to do our best anyway...

if people do believe in hell, they typically believe most people are going there..
IE: Christianity (I wont comment on the other religions because I dont know them as well): those who are not christian will go to hell (The verse "no one gets to the father except through me." Jesus speaking)
Although I dont believe in hell...which means most probably think that is where I am going.

In my own way of believing I believe that people from all religions will get to heaven and some people will go to hell regardless of their claimed religion.

it's a reflection of the ego to believe that only people who believe exactly what i believe are going to heaven and all others will go to hell. still more amazing that most people would rather believe in that than an all-inclusive loving God.

First thing first, NO i BE-LIVE in The Second member of The Godhead Jesus Christ, and its not what most folks do that i should be or you concerned about its where will i "choose" to end up and i will tell you why Most folks will NOT be in Heaven. PLEASE READ each word that Jesus said here in Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
NOTICE its the DOETH the ones that DOES the Will of God, also John 14:15 "IF" you Love me [then] KEEP my commandments. also in Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
WHY would most folks be on the road to eternal death [note in Rev.20:6 it speaks of the second "death" the EFFECTS of Hell is forever NOT the fire itself] because they do not love God enough to do what He says so the big question here IS NOT where will most end up, rather WHERE WILL "YOU" end up and you CAN know. READ ALL OF THIS in 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

I don't believe that. God talks with people in many ways. Organized religion is only one path to heaven.

i would think twice before saying that non-religion is the majority...b/c i'm pretty sure it's not. and if non-religion were the majority, then i would still believe in hell...but it's not up to me to judge who will go there and who won't.
