I usually get 80% crap answers from people who didn't even read the question. Sometimes I don't get any applicable answers at all! They just wanted to preach, or share a point of view that had little to do with what I was asking.
Why answer if you're going to ignore the question?

Sometimes questioners put several questions in their extra info. Some people don't read the whole question, or are only answering a part of the question.
I never (hardly ever) answer a question with a non-response.
Another factor is the length - long questions seem to get short answers. And long answers often get blasted for being too wordy.
And, sadly, there are people who answer everything to get the points - or preach without costing points. These people you just need to ignore I guess.

Some people do it simply to point game and troll. They don't care about answering an actual question. It's more about the points with certain people. Either that or some people just feel like answering a question however they feel like answering a question with little or no thought towards what the asker is looking for. Or it could be that they don't understand your question. I know how you feel as I have had that happen to me on many occasions which is why at times I don't even feel like asking questions on here which I don't do all that often around here anymore.

This would be a very different place if points were not involved and if limits on daily posting were not involved. I also think there is an element of isolation; I feel at time that some people live very isolated lives and get off on giving their opinion or preaching or the like.

Perhaps some people feel that the question goes beyond the answer that you are looking for or they want to highlight/disagree with an assumption that the question is making.
But I think you've already answered this. People often want to preach - particulalry on religious questions.
As for those who don't even read the question... I really don't know why they bother.

Because most people are self centered and really do not care about actual communication just being annoying and getting their point across.
EDIT: Also apparently from other answers some of the women respond simply to flirt with you.

Yeah, that happens to me too. People totally ignore what I was really asking, and "answer" to something else. It's like they're illiterate or something.
Anyway, I try to answer the questions as they are and not use them to preach. I'm not very preachy anyways, usually. Peachy, yes. But not preachy.

I think alot of people tend to use this forum as their own personal soapbox. Some people, it seems, don't even read the question, they just start preaching.
