Can I open LNG files?

I have these files as part of my studies inside a zip file. Adobe 7 opens them but then it tells me the files are damaged etc. Is there anyway I can find out my file content and should I uninstall Adobe 7?will that help to stop it recurring and have I lost my files for good?!

Take a look at the following page and see if you recognise which program the files might have been made with ... presumably something to do with the course that you're doing.
