I'm not asking why my answers have not been picked just why people don't pick the best to the questions they post

Some would say laziness but I think it is a combination of laziness, bad manners and good old fashion lack of respect for the work us answerer's go through to give these people answers. There have been times I have spent 30 or more minutes on answers especially in the computer part of YAHOO answers, do to the technology involved. I have learned somewhat of a profile concerning the ones that do not pick best answer. If it is someone that never has been to the forum and ask all of the question in the headline part and no question in the body of the question, then 90% of the time if they are to lazy to get detailed in their question and chances are very good they are to lazy to pick best answer.

I have never not picked best answer for a question. Never and that is because I know the work involved. You are right there is a problem and YAHOO needs to address it. Force people to pick best answer at least 80% of the time they ask a question and all the very first question askers MUST pick a best answer or you lose your right to ask question for a month or something like that. However, if YAHOO is only doing this for numbers and advertisement then this will never get fixed and in my opinion will only get worse and quality answer's will get tired of this lack of respect and go somewhere else.

A reason could be; they do not get the answer they preferred to get.
Truth can be a pain if your conviction is opposite of the answer, like "loosing face"

Another reason could be; asking a question only for the sake of provoking and not have a real interest in an answer.

The best answers are to be found in our Bible, and even when the answer is obvious and clear, by the text of Scripture, the answer is not appreciated, for the simple reason,
; the question was not meant as a question, but as a statement.

It is a shame, since so many peoples use time and effort in giving a sincere and use full answer.

Sola Scriptura

In a land long ago and far away...

Before having a Yahoo account, I stumbled across a Yahoo Answers format page to ask a question - and it allowed me to ask questions without ever creating a profile. It never let me in to the Home Page here.

It didn't give me the format to see my question, nor did it have me set up a response e-mail address.

I never knew if I even got answers to my questions.

After coming to one of Yahoo's many incarnations... I was given access to the home page - and all of YOUR questions as well.

Perhaps the majority of folks are just asking to entertain themselves... maybe many let their real lives take them away from the computer... maybe their computer's broke down... maybe, like me, they never knew how to return....

We have to remember the folks who don't answer questions - and spend a little time voting for all the folks who are still waiting. ...I always roll back to page 10 and start voting for the sake of REALLY old questions...

LOOK! I'm headed there NOW!

Discover. Vote.
Peace!

Hi I let mine go to vote when there are too many good answers and I don't have the heart to pick one over the other.
What a good idea you had when you put them on as a question so you could get the feedback from others. I may have to do that with one of mine. Thanks. Have a good one. Mmm

A lot of persons only want answers that agree with their own preconceived idea, or to give validity to what they want to hear. There are usually several good answers and only one is selected by the asker. All good answers that may not have been chosen have value to others on the site, so don't get discouraged. I appreciate reading yours too.

With the type of posts further each and each and every minute, I doubt there is a few guy in the back of the scenes screening each and every submit. It ought to easily be a glitch because I have requested legimitate questions, which under no circumstances made it.

1) They're not really interested in the answers.
2) They're interested, but don't really like any of them.
3) It's not a question to which there really isn't a right answer and not choosing a best answer let's more people participate in choosing which one is best.

If you are participating to get points and best answers you are wrongly motivated.

Just post cogent resonses with no flippancy or cynicism, thereby respecting the sincere questioner, and things will work out for you.

Ignore the rest.

I guess they don't really want to know an answer or care about the opinions of others. Perhaps they just wanted to see their "name in lights" so to speak.
But it bums me out when people don't give others the courtesy of voting on a question they asked when others took the time to respond to their question.

I always pick a best answer, that way an answer I don't like will not be chosen as best by the people.
