by the Editors of Easy Home Cooking Magazine
Ingredients:
1 package (18-3/4 ounces) chocolate cake mix plus ingredients to prepare mix
1 cup whipping cream, chilled
1/3 cup chocolate syrup
Preparation:
1.Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour into prepared 17x11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
2. Beat whipping cream with electric mixer at high speed until it begins to thicken. Gradually add chocolate syrup; continue beating until soft peaks form.
3. Using a ruler or square cookie cutters, cut 10 each 3-inch squares, 2-inch squares and 1-inch squares. Place 1 (3-inch) square on serving plate. Spread with frosting. Top with 2-inch square. Spread frosting and top with 1-inch square. Frost sides and top of cake. Repeat to form 10 cakes. Store tightly covered at room temperature.
Simple Chocolate Curls: Place an 8-ounce chocolate bar on waxed paper. Place on top of refrigerator, by a sunny window, or anywhere between 80°F and 85°F for about 30 minutes to slightly soften. Find the flattest side of the chocolate bar and using long strokes, pull a vegetable peeler towards you to create curls. Refrigerate curls until needed for decorating. Use a toothpick to transfer curls to cake.

I used to make cakes for my moma alll the time.....
I would go to Walmart, and get the Pillsbury Dark chocolate cake mix. Mix according to directions, EXCEPT instead of water, use Milk.....and add an extra 1/3 cup of milk to the already 1 1/4 cup it asks for. I also sometimes added a couple spoonfuls of pudding(Buy the pudding snack cups, that works). Bake it....and DONT let it overbake.
Let cool and frost with vanilla frosting. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
Its Moist, light and melts in your mouth.
You can also add, cherry pie filling to the recipe instead of extra milk and pudding. That gives it moistness and great flavor.

Purchase a box of Betty Crocker Cake Mix and Icing-follow the instructions but add a tablespoon of cooking (light) oil not (lard) follow baking table for the type of cooking tin you use--be sure to choose the type of chocolate you want because there are many choices. Good luck.
