DAWN,
GO BACK TO YOUR DENTIST AND TELL HIM/HER YOU WANT A THERMOPLASTIC RESIN METAL FREE DENTURE CALLED VALPLAST.
I NEVER USE METAL WHEN I PRESCRIBE PARTIALS FOR MY PATIENTS. THEY LOVE IT!
LOOKS GREAT AND FITS PERFRECT. MANY FORGET THEY EVEN WEAR PARTIAL.

When the dentist did your try - in appointment he should have let you look at it. And then you could have told him what you didn't like. Unless he made you an immediate partial then you pretty much have to rely on his judgment. If it's a good dentist he will let you know ahead of time what he's doing. You should go back to him an tell him that you don't like it and have him get it changed to vinyl free of charge!
That's what my boss does for our patients if they're not happy with his work.

My partial doesn't have any metal at all. It's all pinkish colored like the rest of my mouth. It cost about $500, so you might not be able to afford one. Ask your dentist about it.

If it's a removable prothesis, you can probably make a new one out of plastic (it depends on the extent of the area without teeth). Or you can get another prothesis with a different design (if possible).
