Use this to check for any visas that might be needed: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_travel_information/visa_passport_information/index.jsp

Any person who flies through USA, even if they are not leaving the aircraft, needs a visa. (Unless of course you are from one of the visa waiver countries and Mexico is not one of them) If you don't have a US visa, don't bother. You will need to change planes and you will be obliged to clear customs before you can board your next flight which will require a visa...

To give you a better view: Some UK charter airlines fly to the caribbean or Mexico via Orlando. And even the passengers who are continuing to the final destination have to leave the aircraft in Orlando.

You will have to take AeroMexico's new direct flight to Tokyo or fly through Canada with Air Canada. I believe Mexicans don't need a visa to go to Canada.

I dont know what part of Mexico you live in so i cant give you the direct web link however if you go to google type in "United States Consulate General" followed by your nearest major city, call them and ask if you need a visa to connect. they will be able to tell you.

Good luck, have fun in Japan

No you don't need a Visa but you do need a passport. Take the cheaper flight.
