I have been dieting and walking on my treadmill for almost a month now and I haven't lost a single pound, I want to lose 10, and I eat power bars or slim fast for breakfast, a slice of fish and carrots with a few fat free pretzels for lunch and a yogurt in the afternoon, then at dinner I have a lean cuisine or a bowl of shredded wheat, what else can I do? I'm getting discouraged! any advice?

I walk at 3.5 to 4 mph and I do 65-70 minutes per day

It's also possible to lose that much weight without the diet, but maybe it does help (never done diets, just cut off junk food). Depends how long you exercise for and if it's mostly walking or not. Try to mix it up, don't just walk, but maybe after every two or three minutes you start to run. If the exercise feels too easy, your gonna wanna work harder. Just try different ways, and about the meals, make sure it's not affecting how tired you are and stuff, cuz you can't exercise if your exhausted and that means it's harder to lose weight. It's more easier to lose weight when your comfortable with it too, and your used to it and you might even feel better about it.

That is pretty weird! Are your clothes a little looser? Do you really do it every day? Make sure that you're only eating the serving sizes of the foods you eat, just in case something with high calories is slipping in. Measure out everything careful and count the calories for a few days. You could just be assuming that the shredded wheat was a cup when it was actually much more!
Its possible that you're already very thin, you didn't say how much you weigh. If you're already in great shape, you'll probably have to work much harder to lose weight.
You walk on the treadmill every day? I'd just suggest writing things down exactly for a week and adding up the approximate calories burnt vs calories consumed to MAKE sure. If it really looks like you should be losing weight, go to your doctor!

Step up your exercise. Normally after diet and exercise for a length of time you hit a plateau after which you won't lose any weight. To break that, you need to step up the walking on a treadmill into jogging. Ideally, you want to challenge yourself every time you exercise. Many people say that sweating is all you need...however sweating alone just burns water weight. You want to be physically fatigued after every exercise...and when that exericse becomes easier either speed it up, go longer, or even better do both.
It's just a matter of pushing yourself. You'll lose that weight within a month if you increase your walking/running/jogging every week.
Also, make sure you are taking vitamin suppliments. They will help with the dieting, and will give you more energy during the day.

Use the 20 minute rule. Eat the portion-controlled meal then, even if you're hungry afterwards, wait for 20 minutes and find out if you still do. Nine times out of 10, you won’t. If you do, eat 10 per cent far more.

Reduce your stress. Your stress hormone cortisol may be activated by extremely low-calorie weight loss plans, intense training, lack of rest and day-to-day worries, which ends up with a spike in glucose levels with your blood. More worryingly, it can promote blocked arteries and fat increase around your internal organs, putting you vulnerable to diabetes and heart disease. The sole prescription for this is to… pass the time.

Power Bars are specifically for endurance energy - not necessarily the best way to go.
I went vegetarian and do medium impact cardio - jogging not walking.
I detail it all in my blog on myspace.com/thedavezone

Wear comfy shoes in order to take meetings for a walk as an alternative to sitting at a desk.
