For the same reason as why the "simple truth" is rarely true and never simple.
For the same reason there's 3 sides to every story: person 1's side, person 2's side, and the truth.
Ya know, Socrates (the philosopher) disavowed common sense, saying that it is not the ultimate "truth" because everything should have definition. If you can't define it, how can you say what it is, or what is "right" or "wrong". For example, what is beauty? What is justice? WHAT IS COMMON SENSE??
See, not that easy to answer is it? Because it's all perspective, and unfortunately, as many of us as there are in this world, we're all unique...so commonality is only as common as the individual.

The term "common sense" originally meant a kind of inner sense that the ancients believed coordinated the information from the five external senses. It did not mean something that everybody was expected to have in abundance.
