people at the "10 items or less" fast check out lane get all the way through with their items and THEN start making out and writing a check!!? Like the name of the damn STORE is gonna change in the time it takes you to get all your items scanned. Plus, with the technology we have these days, some stores will scan your check and fill it in for you, plus you can just swipe a credit/debit card. Why WHY do people insist on holding up other BUSY people?

by the way, thanks for the rant. :)

People like that are too self absorbed to be considerate. No excuse for them. Never fails though, when you are in a hurry, you get behind one of them. :)

I used to work as a cashier, and I noticed this a lot. I guess some people just don't think to start writing out their check before all their items are scanned.

I'm usually not in a hurry when I shop, so it's rarely a big deal. I just wait my turn and get on with it. Besides, that time spent waiting is good reflection time---for me it is, anyway. If I were in a hurry, I would probably get a little annoyed.

I am graced with gobs of patience. By then I am usually in conversation with someone in line behind me. It is annoying if you are late for work or something, but some folks are dingy and ditsy.

And it is 10 items and fewer. thanks.

Please do not let other people have that kind of emotional control over you. You are allowing a small act to 'ruin your day'. There are way worse things than waiting in line at the store.

Suggestions for what to do in line:
work your hamstrings by lifting one foot bending the knee
Talk to the person behind you
Pray for the checker person that they will be courteous
Pray for Iraqi kids
Sing a Beatles song
Out loud if you know the words
Write a verse of poetry to give your mother for Mother's Day
Consider how to fix dinner faster than normal

]and on and on the list goes.

Actually, it should be called the "Ten items or FEWER" checkout lane if we want to get grammatically correct. Why WHY don't people get more upset about this?

No, it should REALLY be called the "Ten items OR fewer" check-out!
