No it sounds to me like your dog has a urinary tract infection. And it will need to be treated by a veternarian. My dog had the same thing and we were really scared thinking the worst, but that's all it was. Especially if he's going pee pee in the house...that means he more than likely has one.

It sounds like a urinary tract infection. It's good that you're taking her to the vet. Take a specimen of her urine with you in a clean container. The vet will be able to identify the type of bacteria and prescribe the best antibiotics for the job instead of giving you a broad spectrum antibiotic. A pity you got a dumb vet tech last time you called. She should not be giving advice over the phone if she doesn't know what she's talking about. The possiblity of a UTI evidently didn't cross her mind. If you need to call a vet it's best that you speak to a vet, not a vet tech.

If she has blood "down there" all the time, it could be her heat...check her vaginal area, if its swollen and has blood coming out most of the time, its heat, HOWEVER, if she ONLY has blood when she urinates it is very likely that she has a urinary tract infection, and the fact that she is urinating all over the house is important too becuase if she has a urinary tract infection then she cannot hold it and that is why she is going in the house. you should take her to the vet ASAP, because if she does have a UTI it can get very bad and i'm pretty sure if it goes for a long time without being treated it can kill her. TAKE HER TO THE VET.

If she's peeing frequently and urgently and having accidents in the house with blood in the urine, it's an Urinary Tract Infection of some sort and must be treated with antibiotics from the vet. She will improve greatly after the second dose.
Please take her to the vet.

Female dogs do drip blood from the back end during heat as you will know, but if the blood's actually in the urine and she's weeing in unusual places, this is likely to be cystitis. This can usually be treated fairly simply at the vets, with antibiotics and stuff, it's not as serious in females as it is in males. Anyway don't be worried, just take her to the vet to get it sorted. They may advise a dietary change to assist too.

Be aware that urinary problems are one of the health problems more likely to occur in unspayed females.

If there is any blood in the urine than you should get her into the vets right away. A urinary track infection is painful and the vet will give you antibiotics to clear it up.
If she has started a heat you can just look to see if she is swollen. Or take a tissue and wipe her bottom area see if there is any blood on the tissue. she may be but you still need to take her to the vet to be sure.

If you ask if this is "heat" then I take it she has not been spayed. Call your vet for advice...it could be several problems. Good Luck

You didnt say how old she was. She could be in heat or it could be something serious. I would advise you to see a vet.
